So I turned 40 last October, and didn't change much about my eating or exercise - still consistently 5-6 workouts a week, the lifting weights, the cardio, etc., changing focus (strength v.s. endurance v.s. curcuit workouts, etc.). All in all, it was a program I thought mixed it up pretty well.

But WTH has been happening? When I do those fast runs at the end of the 4DSBC workout, or any kind of plyo move or high impact move, first I jump and the my a$$ jumps after me!!! Or I run, and my tuchus runs after me. Things are jiggling and shaking that didn't before. I haven't gained weight, or lost it, for that matter.

What's going on? Am I in some kind of inevitable post-40 gush and slide and loose skin deline?

What are your experiences?

Thanks for your opinions in advance!

Hi Susan,

I will turn 41 this year.

With me it is my belly. It was always a spot I had to watch. It just got tougher around the big 4-0.

I had to clean up my eating (I could afford to throw out the rules for 1 to 2 meals per week). Transgressions that my body could handle, as long as I was sensible most of the time, I pay for on my belly this past year and a half. So I had to change my eating. I dont mean undereating, or anything drastic, just being extra careful with treats.

I think it could be a dip in BMR from aging. I am hitting the weights more diligently in the hope that adding muscle mass will raise my BMR. I have no idea if this is scientific. Just my personal diagnosis based on what I have read.

I got my body composition analysed and it said my BMR is 1385 calories. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basal_metabolic_rate
I have no idea how good or bad that is, and cannot compare it with previous data since I never tested before. I plan to weight train more "Seriously" and try again in about 3 months to see if it is higher.
