Resuming workout routine after hiatus

I had surgery and was told that I could resume working out after 6 weeks (the standard time frame I think most doctor's give, don't you). But I went for a walk during week 4 and feel like I could probably handle a low step workout, but I don't want to disobey my doc. I have two more weeks to go until I am over the 6 week mark. Any recommendations on how to work my way back up to Cathe???

I'm doing this right now.... I would start with the beginners tapes followed by the low impact workouts. I would then start introducing some of her higher impact workouts. I would suggest Cardio & Weights, Body Max 2 step segment only, and Rhythmic Step.

Good luck!

I had major abdominal surgery about a year ago. I was advised not to work out for 6 weeks, then to take it like a beginner. I remember just walking for a couple weeks, then doing segments from CTX. Some of the moves I didn't do because of how they made me feel. Anyhow, I would listen to your doctor. A lot of surgery has to heal on the inside longer than you think and you don't want to hurt anything. Good Luck. Melissa

Definitely listen to your Dr. Take it slow and easy. Remember slow and steady wins the race! You don't want to do too much too soon and have a set back!

I say brisk walking and no jumping. Try (if you have one) an incline on the treadmill, or lomax step only then work it up. Or do 1/2 a step w/o and keep increasing. It will come back..If you feel tired, quit and start again tomorrow. You did after all start from the begening at one time.
I was told your body needs 2 months to recover from a major surgery, so, take it slow. Summer is 5 months away yet...
Good luck. Best wishes on a full recovery.
