When we decide to use STS differently than straight through in 3 months are there any rules of thumb for deciding where to put the rest weeks.
For example I am doing
Meso 1 week 1 x 2 weeks
Meso 2 week 1 x 2 weeks
Meso 3 week 1 x 2 weeks.
Meso 1 week 2 x 2 weeks
and wondering should I put a rest at the end of the first 4 weeks, or the first 6
There are probably endless variations of rotations and how we might use STS and the more I use them the more I would tend to experiment to keep things interesting.
Are there any principles of resting that would help guide us.
Also does the rest typically change depending on what muscle fibers we are working. Do the slow and fast fibers typically respond the same way and need equal amounts of rest?
My impression has been that for people who typically work heavy- they limit how often they lift heavy to once a week, but can do endurance workouts more often without risking over training. This would imply that a rest would be more important when doing heavy weight than endurance, so I wonder if that would influence when you would schedule rests.
Thanks for creating such a effective and interesting workouts.
