Recuping from Thanksgiving

Finally home from the Thanksgiving weekend. It's wonderful to be home! I can't believe how much I ate this year. I think I must have been feeling a bit down. It's one thing to overdo the turkey and sweet potatoes, which are good for you anyway, but my SIL made an amazing death by chocolate cake, and once I got started, I found it hard to stop. It's probably years since I last ate chocolate cake, and it didn't agree with me :-( In fact, the whole weekend didn't agree with me and I'm feeling pretty out of it....anyone else have a not-so-great Thanksgiving?

Hi,

Yep. Our family holidays begin with champaign (sp?) and wine with dinner and after dinner drinks. I typically have a one red wine on a weekend...but on holidays, well. The drinking puts more weight on than with eating alone...oh, yea the eating is more out of control
because your defenses are down with the alcahol. So,here I sit seven pounds and and inch and a half bigger everywhere with all this bloat. YUK. I hear you. I'll try drinking lots of water for a few days and eat simply and workout low and long. dmd

Yep. Here too. Exercised my stomach on Turkey Day and I'm not talking about my Abs but its only one day during the year and I always refuse to worry about what I eat on that day. I just go back to clean eating and realize that living is also about living.

I wish ours were only one day! Every year, we have to go to one on Thursday and one on Friday so we see everyone. If it were one day, I think it would be a lot easier.

I feel like Thanksgiving got me on a roll for eating. The only saving thing is we did it at my son's home this year so I couldn't have more helpings after everyone left. But, the thing is there were so many wonderful things. I had to try pieces of 4 pies. My dh cut them for me and when I said small they were not real small. My kids were laughing on the last peice when I had to take it back to add the whipped cream. O.K. I lost it this year. The next day I was still looking for sugar. I ate what was probably 3 servings of dh's low carb ice cream. I think I am back on track now. I am always proud of myself when I get through the holidays and I do not over indulge. Now from experience the weight gain you have right after is mostly water from all of the sodium and the weight of all of the food you eat. Usually after a week I am back to normal;-)Alright now Christmas and my daughter's wedding with the rehearsal dinner etc.. This is the 11th. Will I make it. I think I may still stay in shape. I am trying to do a little extra.

I am totally not into Thanksgiving this year! And I caught my hubby's cold right before T-day and I am still sick with it! With my two jobs and school, T-day is no party for me either. :( I just wish November and December would be over.

I actually behaved this year. The worst I did was three pieces of pie (all different) but they were all slivers with ice cream. :) :)

Janice,
I am sorry you have been feeling low lately. After looking at your circumstances I can understand. I have checked out your pics and looked at all of your posts. You need to get back at it. You were one of my inspirations as far as working out hard and heavy. Catching colds etc. is a low point. Most of the time I still workout but at a lower intensity till I get past it. I hope you know you have posted inspiring pics and we would like to see some more:D
