Recovery Drinks and Protein Bars!

So who here drinks recovery drinks and if so, what's your favorite combo if you make your own. I make mine right now with crangrape and vanilla whey protein powder. It tastes awesome! My hubby uses apple juice and his reminds me of an orange julius. Anyone discover any other fabulous combos.

Also, what is your favorite protein bar? Right now I'm eating the Chocolate Chip peanunt crunch Cliff bars and the chocolate chip toffee Power Bars. Both are pretty good, though a little high on sugar content. Any other recommendations?

I make my own pre-workout smoothie (usually coconut water, frozen banana, chia seeds, goji berries, and if it's going to be a more intense workout or a 5k, some Vega Performance Optimizer thrown in, and maybe some maca).

After a workout, I'll have another smoothie made with a vegan protein powder (Sun Warrior or Vega) or with Vega whole food meal replacement.

I don't do protein bars.

After a longer run, I'll take in NUUN, an electrolyte replacement that doesn't have sugar. I just have a regular meal after other workouts.

Morningstar introduced me to NUUN (pronounced -noon - go figure) it is a great, on the go, recovery drink. It comes in a water soluble wafer...you just need 16 oz of water, drop the wafer in, shake it up and drink.

It made a big difference in my recovery.

Nuun looks awesome, though it appears to be more of an replenishing drink, maybe? The definition of a recovery drink as I know it is usually 4:1-- carbs:protein and is used after intense exercise to replenish glycogen stores and repair muscles...i think, LOL. Though I'm sure there are many definitions though and it is what you want it to be. I usually only drink one after really intense workouts like BodyMax 2, or the HiiT workouts, or after every Insanity workout.
