Recommendation please for a good book to heal the stomach

BAM

My bf has finally decided that he needs to clean up his eating habits to address many of his health issues. I know quite a bit on the subject and will share my knowledge with him but I'd love to be able to give him a book that addresses all the issues that a bad gut can produce with easy, practical food elimination solutions. I'd like to find a very comprehensive book that doesn't get too complicated while getting to the point.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.

It would help to know exactly what his health issues are and what caused it. Gut problems are too broad a subject. The problems could be autoimmune, alcohol and drugs, allergies, etc with diseases such as dyspepsia, esophagitis, hiatal hernia, peptic ulcers, diverticulosis, IBS, celiac disease crohn's disease, hepatitis and many more. There are some good "Nutrition & Diet Therapy" textbooks that are written for nurses/dietitians that pinpoint the dietary recommendation for specific diseases. You probably could google the problem and take recommendations that way. Just make sure you are getting real advice from reputable medical/dietitian's websites.

He has digestive/elimination issues which are leaning toward IBS along with arthritic symptoms and an overall feeling of malaise.

Thanks for your suggestion.

He might just be sensitive to night shade family foods, tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplant. They are known to be a problem for people who have arthritis.

I hope he feels better soon.

It is a "diet" book but I didn't get it for that reason in particular, I got for toxic stuff in our food reason, in addition it addresses foods vs. health issues, a topic I revisit regularly with Gillian McKeith-You Are What You Eat.

Plus, I feel like I've saved a goodie from the depths of the bargain counter :D

Thanks so much Alisha and 112toGuru for your great suggestions! I will definitely let him know about the night shade group of foods and will send him the link to that book.

Thanks again!

I have not tried the program, it's my next read. I have done tons of research on bowel cleansing as I have had problems my whole life, until I cleaned up my diet.
I have heard that Bernard Jensens books are great and he knows what he is talking about.
This book in particular of his is supposed to be fantastic!

Brenda Watson is the 'guru' of gut problems-- her probiotics and digestive enzymes along with "intestinew' have helped me when nothing else could--- her book is called "Gut Solutions" ..Try to catch her on PBS.

I'd highly recommend Eat To Live by Joel Fuhrman. The revised version came out in January, the cost is about ten dollars at amazon. The title implies it's a weight loss/diet book but it's more about healthy eating and discuss the negative effects of processed food, etc.
