That's a good question. I went and bought the Abs Diet book only to discover that I too was already eating all the right foods. Like you, though, I wasn't eating six times a day. I've started doing that, and have lost like a pound in 2 weeks, which is actually okay for me and my pokey metabolism.
I still think all things count, no matter how "clean" your food choices are. You can pig out on good carbs, good fats, too much fruit, and all sorts of "healthy" foods, and never lose a pound. I don't do a strict count of calories, fat grams, or carbs, but I try to be mindful of a total daily picture of my food intake. That way I don't feel quite so bad when I have chocolate cake with DH after dinner! lol
