Anyone running this? My 12 yr old daughter and i are going to run this on mothers day. It's the first race for both of us so i'm nervous. Any tips?? I know this one gets crowded, but it's for a good cause and we've been running together for a few months so i thought it would be kind of cool on mothers day.
Would love so advice!!

If i remember right it is a crazy race.
I don't remember reading about it and the tribune usually picks that up in the health extra.
I would do a race, but i am not quite ready .
How many miles id this one.
I think it is going to be a great day and an awesome mother /daughter thing.
I can't give advice, but good luck.I'll be rooting fo ya.

RE: Race for the cure-

Reviving this thread, as this race is this weekend and is the first for both me and my daughter.
Do we wear these provided t-shirts to these, or is that uncool?
Any advice? Hoping this will build my confidence to run more races.
tia!!!

RE: Race for the cure-

It's normally considered uncool, but NOT for the Race for the Cure:) I would say 99% of people wear them.

It's a fun, fun race. The atmosphere is marvelous. Don't worry about your time, just have fun. Kudos to you and your daughter for participating!

RE: Race for the cure-

Emily and I just did the Race for the Cure this morning in Peoria, Illinois. Everyone had on their shirt, I think you should wear yours. It is a lot of fun, enjoy yourselves. There were a lot of munchies for us here after the race so enjoy those too. ;-) People cheer you on all thru the race and you can get water to drink if you need it too. Emily and I ran but not in the competitive race.

If you look in my picture trail you will see a few pictures from our race.

If you have any questions, just ask and I will try to answer them.

ETA: This was my first race.

RE: Race for the cure-

Sabrina,
Well, we ran ours today and had a BLAST!!!! The runners were separate from the walkers, at least to begin. We ran it in 28 minutes. I'm sure i could've run a better time but my daughter WHINED the whole time. (" mom, no way i'm running up that hill".....) I didn't think she would be that way, but for some reason, somewhere around the 1 mile mark, she decided it was time to walk, and I was just getting my energy!!! All in all, we had a blast, we wore our t-shirts proudly, we enjoyed the freebies they were handing out, and i really enjoyed listening to some of the survivors speak.

Definately looking for another race soon, that was so much fun!
