Hi, for those who program you dvd player. I just got a 5 disc dvd player. I figured out how to program on one disc, but can this be saved or do I have to reprogram every time I workout? The second question, how do I program multiple discs and will this save? Thanks for any help you can give.

I used to have a 1-disc programmable, and it does save the program as long as the disc is kept in the machine (which you can do with a 5-disc machines).

I've heard that there are multi-disc players that do NOT program across discs, at least not with DVD's (they do with CD's, though). Others do, so I hope you have one of the latter.

All of this depends on your specific player, and your best info will be in the owner's manual.

Debbie,
Before I purchased the 400 multi Disc programmable Sony DVD player I now own, I bought a Sony 5 disc DVD player.... the salesperson insisted it was programmable across discs, but I found it was not. I also found out that once I turned off the player or changed discs whatever I programmed chapter by chapter was lost (ugh!!). I returned the player and, in my research for a new player, I found most DVD players are not programmable across multiple discs. I also found that the outside of the boxes and most salespeople really don't know if DVD players are programmable across discs (they just assume in this "day and age" they all are). Your best bet is to go to the manufacturer's website and read their individual model manuals. Please note that some manufacturers charge you $15 to download their manuals...I personally skipped those places. That is really the only way to know for sure. If your DVD player does not give you an option to put the disc number in as well as title and chapter I could pretty much can guarantee you that you do not have a player that is programmable across muliple discs....I found out the hard way and I hope this saves you and someone else a little trouble.

Yes, you have to really read the fine print. Even those machines that are advertised as "programmable across discs" may only be refering to CD's and NOT to DVD"s (as I mentioned in my previous post).

I guess manufacturers of DVD players see the usefulness of listening to a mix of music from different CD's, but don't realize that there are consumers that use DVD's for working out and NOT just for watching movies (and who would think of playing one chapter from one movie, skipping to a chapter from another movie, then onto a chapter from a third movie, etc.---though it could be a weird mind game to play on visitors!!! heh heh heh}( "Hey, what is Melanie Griffiths doing in her office when the aliens are about to take over the world?" ).

I think that answers my question. I have the Sony 5 disc dvd player. I also found the salesperson had no clue as to whether it was programmable across discs. I looked at the manual, but didn't see any info on it for programming across discs. Oh well, I will keep trying. I haven't taken too much time to sit down and play with it yet. I got a new version that just recently came out, so hopefully it can - but now I am doubtful.

Thank you ladies for your help.
