Question - Thighs

Ok, this is probably a stupid question, but does anyone have any problems w/ one thigh being larger than the other.
I'm sorry this might be a personal question...
I took my measurements last night and my right thigh is 1/2 inch larger than the left... This is really bothering me.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do? Should I do more reps on my right leg (floorwork)?

Thanks so much ~ :)

Hi Jennifer,

We tend to favor one side of our bodies over another (right-handed v. left-handed) and do/start more things with the favored side. This tends to make the muscles on that side of the body larger. An easy example (at least for me) is the muscle in my right hand near the thumb v. the left, my right forearm v. left ... you can easily see the difference. With legs we tend to take stairs (up and down) with a favored side, etc. I try to be sure I keep my weight workouts balanced to compensate, but I can tell a difference in the strength of one side of my body v. the other. I know people want symmetry but nature often prevents it perfectly. Unless you're intending to do some bodybuilding competitions, I wouldn't worry much about it. Deb

Lol, I'm the same way. I had one thigh last month that was a 1/2" different. I used to figure skate though, so I figured my landing leg was bigger because of the muscles required to land jumps. Of course, I haven't done that in a while, so not sure I can still use that as an excuse! I'm due for measurements again tonight, so I'll see if I am still off keelter.

My thighs also differ in size by about a quarter to a half inch. But I can't remember which is which. And I can't tell by looking at them...

Hi Jennifer. May I say first of all, No question is EVER stupid. I know it's just an opening but I think all questions
are smart. :) (Just my two cents coming out! Don't mind me. :p ) My thighs from top to bottom are different on both sides. The upper portions are different in size and shape and the lower portions are different in size. The difference in the size of my thighs are due to the fact that I had fractured my left foot many years ago and had to wear a cast and use crutches. My left thigh muscles were supporting the weight of the cast because I couldn't walk on my foot so it was in the air thereby strengthening those muscles but not building them up. I have a leaner look on that side. Unfortunately, this affect didn't impact my lovely upper thigh area, namely the dreaded saddlebags and inner thigh. Hmmmm, wonder what I'd have to break to get THOSE areas to be worked. Better scratch that idea because you know how you get what you wish for. :+

I have one with an extra side of cottage cheese. It is my weaker side, but I have to say that it is close to parity in terms of strength after alot of work, and still has me wondering about the merits of liposuction.
The only thing I can offer is empathy!
