Question regarding calculating 1RM????

When calculating your 1RM for each exercise, will we have to figure our 1RM for each exercise on each DVD or will we for example figure our 1RM for a bicep curl which will figure 1RM for other bicep exercises????

I would like to know this, too. Seems it will get very time-consuming to figure out the 1RM for every single separate exercise.

Thanks,
April

Once you figure out your 1RM for an exercise like a bicep curl you can use this information for anytime a bicep curl is used in STS or for that matter anytime you do a bicep curl in any other DVD or workout program.

will the list of exercises be given out ahead of time so we know specifically which exercises to be checking for?

i know i was fortunate enough to do p90x's fit test ahead of time because they gave us the info on the website... so once we recieved the workout we could jump right in... it would be nice to know the exact exercises and not have to guess from blog entries, posts, etc...

Thanks, but that doesn't quite answer my question. My question is (and I think Cheryl's, too) Do we have to figure our 1 Rep Max for hammer curls and bicep curls? Or is the 1RM for hammer curls the same as bicep curls (or can be calculated)? Or if I find my 1RM for tricep kickbacks, do I still have to find my 1RM for tricep extensions. Etc, etc.

Thanks,
April

Yes, you will need to do a separate 1RM for any exercise that is different. Kickbacks are different from overhead extensions and thus you will need to do separate 1RM tests.

and will a list of all exercises be provided prior to the release of STS to we can start working on these calculations?

All of the exercises in STS are included in the Workout Manager which will be available well before STS is released. You just select the workout you want to do that day and all of the exercises will load automatically onto your screen with weight you will need to do every exercise (assuming you have done your 1RM).You can then just print a workout card to do the workout that day.

To do a 1RM test is also easy. The picture below is an actual screen shot of the 1RM calculator included in the Workout Manager. It still needs a little work on the graphics and written descriptions, but this is pretty much how it will look. All you have to do is first select the Mesocycle you wish to enter data for and then select the exercise. Then do the test and enter the weight you lifted and the reps performed. Once you click the “Calculate” button your 1RM will automatically be calculated. We will also show you other information such as different percentages for your 1 RM and what weight you should use to perform various amounts of reps. Once you click save your information will be stored online in your account and can be retrieved at a later date.
