question on weights

I have just begun the Pure Strength series. However, while I have a forty lb barbell (and may need it heavier soon), I do not have a full set of dumbells (5lb, 8lb, 15lb, 20lb, etc.) I do have 10 lb. I also do not want to spend a lot of money as I do not have a ton of money to spend or space to store things. Not too mention that if I get strong fast, I don't want to have just bought a weight set and need an unpgrade in two months (heavier weights). Does anyone have a suggestion how to get stronger with minimal purchases? Or weights that do not cost much or take too much space? Above all, I want to aviod buying weights and getting too strong for them, I want a purchase that will last and challenge me.

Also, once I reach my ideal strength (real strong), can I maintain those hard earned muscles of Pure Strength 6 times a week with a total body weight video, 60 minutes, 2 times a week that trains every muscle group in less time and effectively keep my strength?

Or can I alternate those routines and stay strong?
