Question of Age

I am somewhat guilty of this today.....one of my clients was in, I swear she looks 25, very cute. Well, as I was examining her dog, 2 kids come in the exam room. They looked a lot like her, but I thought she was way too young to be their mom. At the end of the appointment, I just mentioned that she looked very young to have kids that big (turns out the boy 12 and the girl is 8). She took it as a compliment and offered her age (I didn't ask). She is 33. She says she always gets told how young she looks, so I don't think she was offended.

Charlotte,

I don't have teenagers, but I am 26 with 3 kids ages 5 and under. The other day in Wal-Mart, the checker asked me if all of these kids were mine. I was like...uh...yeah. Then she said, Oh, my god, you don't look over 20...are you over 20? I was shocked and just said yeah, I am over 20. How crazy and nosy is that?? I think she is stupid though. She must have been looking at the food we were buying because she said, "You guys eat really healthy. Why? You are skinny."......uh....duh!!!!

When people ask my age, I always tell them. I am 24 years older than my first born DD and younger than most of her friends' parents. But I am 32 years older than my youngest DS and older than many of his friends' parents.

Funny story: My DH bought me a cadillac when I was 40 and the frist time I took it in for service, the service rep. asked me if I was bringing in my mother's car. Um, NOOOO this is mine!

Wow, I don't know what you guys are complaining about! I have 3 kids, 15,13 and just turned 4. Since there is a big jump in age , I get all kinds of rude comments. The one I hate is that I am dd's grandma. Then when they find out I'm not, they assume and ask if she was a "surprise"!! How rude! It's none of your business if she was a "surprise"! Then when I say "No, we planned very carefully for her", they look at me like I have lost my marbles! I even had one lady at church ask me why in the world would I want to start all over with a baby when my other 2 were getting older. UGH!! Don't people ever keep there thoughts to themselves? And don't get me started on comments people make when you are pregnant! Marnie

Charlotte,
I always take it as a compliment...when people say they cannot believe I have a 22 year old daughter....it makes my day whatever the motive!! ;-)
