question for those with a squat rack

Hallo,

I'd like to ask those "out there" with a squat rack like this one;

http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys...squat stands

...would it be possible (ie stable enough) to put a barbell across the top and use it for (low) pull-ups such as we see on Cathe's Power Tower?

Thanks
Rosemarie (who is still waiting for her STS to arrive in The Netherlands)

Edited to say:
I see that the above link is no longer working so the squat rack model (Kroon BS-230 Press Rack) is also here;

This looks like the Valor BD squat rack I have.
I'm not sure I'd use it for low pull-ups, especially not with the bar at the 'squat' height. Maybe at a lower height.

I just feel it would be a bit unstable because of the probably momentum that might be caused by body movement.

But I could be wrong.

Thanks for replying Kathryn......I got the idea from your earlier post on another thread.

I'm looking for alternatives for chin up bars etc. I was going to wait till the Cathe's Power Tower but I have the feeling that could take a while. Plus shipping form America will probably cost a bomb. At least I can by this model in The Netherlands.

I thought that maybe this model could be suitable for chin ups, squats and bench presses.....3-in-1!

cheers Rosemarie

I have the BD Valor Squat Stands. I haven't actually tried it, but I agree that I don't think these would be stable enough for the prone pullups. Although a lot might depend on how tall you are and whether you could brace the front of the stand with something.
