Question for Postpartum mom's

Hi Ladies. I thought you would be the best ones to ask this question to. I've had 2 children, and am having my third this September. My 30th b-day is just 2 or so weeks after my due date. I am planning on having a "day of beauty" to celebrate. I am thinking that I will most likely want to wait until I am 6 weeks or more postpartum because I'm sure I'll be too tired, and still bleeding more than I would want to really fully enjoy this. Do you guys agree? Since it's so fresh in your minds, when do you think a good time-frame to do something like this would be? I remember doing it at 6 weeks postpartum after my daughter and that seemed fine.

Hi,
Glad you are taking my suggestion for a day of beauty. For me bleeding stopped at about 3 weeks and I was feeling pretty good at this time and even better at 4 weeks, but if you think feeling pretty will lead to activities with hubby, if you get my drift, wait until your 6 week check up so you know you have the ok. In terms of fatigue , I was exhausted until my daughter turned around 3 months, but she was nursing every 2 hours and up an hour each time. Hopefully you'll have it easier and get more sleep. I do think though around a month the body has begun to adjust to nursing and adjusting to sleep deprivation. Hope my babblings help.

Okay am I missing something...what are you guys talking about...."day of beauty?".

Isn't it enough that I work out everyday....do I have to look beautiful too????? ;) ;) ;) ;) And I suppose you want me to comb my hair....some days I don't even get a shower when the baby doesn't sleep (which is particularly bad after I've done IMAX).

So explain this day of beauty - perhaps it was a typo. :) :) :) :)

Briee,
You missed stacey's last post about how to celebrate her 30 th birthday with a newborn, i recommended a day spa. Judging on your picture, you look great the way you are briee. By the way I have spent many days unshowered especially those first 3 months.

You guys are cute. Briee: You NEED A DAY OF BEAUTY IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS! I'm going to a salon where children are not allowed, where I am going to be pampered by any service I desire. I'm for sure opting for the full-body massage with scalp rub, swiss shower, facial, and pedicure. I'm not sure what else I will do. It includes a catered lunch. Afterwards, I'll probably meet my husband for dinner. And yes, a bubble bath with just a touch of champagne would complete the evening very nicely, so I will definitely wait til the 6 week mark.

My husband is so sweet. When I told him what I had decided I wanted to do for my birthday, he said he was going to get me that anyway. How thoughtful. I think I'll also go shopping for some new clothes. Not that I need them with my 40+ pair of pants, but it's so much fun! And I'll have been on such a long shopping hiatus that I'll definitely be due!

Take care guys. Thanks!

Okay, I'm not sure what a day of beauty is either...but it sounds nice. 3-wks postpartum bleeding sounds good too. I bleed for 6 full weeks with both my kids. I bled heavier with my vaginal birth...but 6 months both times. Urgh. If your looking to enjoy your time blood free--be safe and go 6 weeks out. :)

Melanie...that may be because we were somewhat anemic (the bleeding).

Okay....don't laugh....I've been dying to ask this question, but I've never known who to ask (call me incredibly naive).....what does one wear when one gets a full body massage? You guys sound like you've had one before. I remember on open forum a while back someone mentioned massages, like everybody gets these at least once a week, and I almost asked this there, but felt too stupid. I'm counting on only "us" reading this so I'll go ahead and ask. :D :D :D

A "spa day" sounds kind of like.....heaven.

Thanks

Briee

I haven't had a full body massage since my dd was 6 weeks old. I want to say, though, that I left my panties on, and needless to say, I was NOT wearing a thong! I didn't have my bra on. I can't remember if they give you something to wear on top or not. They keep you covered under warm towels. If I remember correctly, they lift the towel when they work on your legs up a bit, but not above the buttocks. So on and so forth for each body part. I don't even remember if I turned over. Maybe full body refers to the backside of the body only? They're able to get your arms really well. Or if you do roll over, they do the fronts of your legs only and maybe the backs of your shoulders again up by the top of your head. I'll ask my SIL as she gets a massage weekly.

I was just laughing before I read your post thinking where else could one post so frankly about female bleeding...?

Thanks for all your help guys.

BTW...I had the most bizarre dream last night. I dreamt that I could feel the outline of my babies entire body through my abdominal area. In my dream, the little baby was a boy. I had a previous dream weeks ago that it was a girl. Very strange.

At one point in my pregnancy (I don't remember how far along I was) I could feel the complete outline of my baby as I was in plank position. It was very strange. I thought it was a neat strange experience. I think I was 5-6 months along at the time. Just thought I'd share. ;-)
