Question for Fitness freak

Worknprogress

Cathlete
I have been reading the Cathe forums for a couple of months now and just decided to join to be able to participate in the posting.

I see that a lot of people ask you questions, get your advice, etc. I've read a lot of your responses and it appears you really "know your stuff." So if you would be so kind as to help me out, but only if you have the time.

I am in my mid-forties and have 4 children - 2 of them are toddlers. With my schedule it is hard to have more than 45 - 60 minutes a day to workout. I have been doing Cathe workouts for about 6 months and have 3/4's of them so I am in pretty decent shape except for the 10 pounds that I've yet to lose from my 1 1/2 year old.

At this point, what should I be concentrating on - finding more time, which with my situation is probably impossible or should I be doing more weights than cardio, circuit training, or weights twice a week and cardio the other days? And what would be the optimal length of time that my workouts should be to get my desired results?

Thanks so much.

Hi Debbie,
Welcome to the boards! Sounds like you have your hands full. Oy! 4 kids. I know I couldn't handle that, kudos to you!

What do your workouts look like now? How many days do you workout and what type of training are you doing?

I'll be out of town for the weekend so I might not get back to you until late Sunday or Monday, but if you could answer this maybe I can guide you.

Hope you had a great weekend out of town!

My workouts are currently 5 or 6 days for about 45-60 minutes. Two of those days are weight workouts and the others days are aerobic. Not really sure where to stick in the circuit training and also have a gym style elliptical trainer that I use for cross training purposes. I am a runner, too, but it has been too cold and icy.

I am 5'7" and weight around 143. Most of my extra weight is in my mid-section and upper thighs. I would love to lose 10 pounds in those specific areas.

As I said before, I do have a lot of the Cathe workouts - upgraded a lot of the VHS to DVD's for the premixes and just received all of those in the last 2 weeks so I am ready to go. But it's a little overwhelming where to start, how to mix, what I should be concentrating on for my body type, etc. Should I be exercising longer than my 45-60 minutes? Any feedback or guidance you could give me would be very much appreciated.

Thanks again!
Debbie
