Question About SH Workouts

Hi Cathe,
I was wondeirng... I am back to heavy training for my chest and back for February and March, from an endurance January.
I am used to in the past, training both of them the same day, twice a week (sundays and wednesdays).
I have decided to do SH for them this rotation to see if I can bump them up to the next level. In the intro to the series you mention to do the exercise once, no more than twice a week.
Im a skater and practice once or twice a week, it's very demanding on my back (especially lower), so Im thinking just once might be best for this particular series due to the intensity level.
My question is should I just do SH chest and back once per week, or can I do the second day, but maybe do a lighter workout? Like the ME or MM ones? Maybe the SH, but cut out a couple of the sets?
Like I said, Im looking to build more muscle and mass, but I don't want to overwork myself with two of the SH workouts per week PLUS the skating, which usually leaves me a little sore as well (even though it's not actually a workout or anything.)
I don't know what alternating an endurance workout would do for me, I would appreciate any advice you have for me..
