Question about Jari Love

Hi,

I don't have any Jari Love stuff, but I'm wondering if there are any Cathe workouts that would be similar to her Ripped 1000, in structure, at least. I understand that Ripped 1000 is a cardio/weights circuit routine. Would it be similar to, say Drill Max, or BootCamp (original), or any of the High Step workouts? Is the cardio short & intense, and the weight work all compound, or isolation?

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi there - I just did a Jari Love workout this morning! So it's all fresh in my mind.

In my opinion, there isn't anything in the Cathe library that really compares - Cardio & Weights is the closest, but most of Cathe's stuff is a little more strength-intensive.

JL uses light weights and high reps. Her workouts are LONG. Looooooong. Like, 70-80 minutes, usually, even if they say they're only an hour.

Jari does compound/combination moves for the most part, i.e. lunges with bicep curls, squats with lateral raises, etc. The format for Ripped 1000/Extremely Ripped 1000 is a couple minutes of high-intensity cardio followed by a couple minutes of a single upper/lower body combination move.

I think most of all the "feel" of these workouts is different. But you could approximate the effect of a JL workout by using lighter weights and doing faster reps (and more of them) while doing any of Cathe's circuit workouts.

Why not just pick up a few JL workouts? They're super cheap. As much as I'm not into her anymore, she was the first home workout instructor I followed and I was fanatical about her for a while. I have all her workouts, but haven't done her latest ones (I actually have two copies of Extremely Ripped-don't ask- and haven't done either of them). If you want to turn all those five million endurance reps into more of a strength building workouts, do what I did - I just did each upper body exercise as a down pyramid (started at my highest weight, working to fatigue, going to next highest, etc., until Jari finally finishes all 150 zillion reps).

Thank you, Afreet!! That's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for :D.

Morningstar - Right now, all the stores I've checked are sold out of the Ripped 1000 dvds. I'll probably find some in a month or so. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Thanks for the responses, everyone!

Sandra, Extremely Ripped 1000 is the latest--Ripped 1000 was done earlier. Which one were you looking at trying? I like ER 1000 better than R1000, but that could just be my preference. The premix that combines both workouts is tough (which is what I do).

I have to agree with cataddict - I like the newer ones much better. I really enjoy these workouts, and Jari is fun. They are pretty unique and you'll sweat, sweat, sweat!!

Enjoy!
