Q re January rotations

Hi Cathe
I'm planning on doing one of your January rotations involving strength workouts and LIS but am confused about working with weights on consecutive days, eg Athletic Training is often on a day before or after an STS, trisets or other strength day. My body just cannot tolerate working with weights two days running - will I still get any benefit doing a workout such as Athletic Training or Afterburn without any weights at all or should I just sub a cardio workout that doesn't involve any weights? Naturally I want maximum results but don't want to cause myself injury either. Hope you can help. (BTW, am loving the new series!)

Hi MJD!

Sure you can sub in an all cardio workout if you prefer that. Whatever makes you feel more at ease about it. The weights in Athletic training/afterburn/cardio supersets/slide n glide are very light endurance work. It is designed to add cardio benefit more than anything. But if you are initially so sore from doing these or any workouts, to the point where you aren't able to do the workout with proper form because the soreness is a source of distraction, then yes, do cardio the days in between the weight workouts. Soon your body will not get this kind of sore and then you can focus and the weight being used to pull out the cardio factor. The exercises used along with the light weight selection will not interfere with your strength recovery as it is not focused on any one body part long enough to increase major strength.

Good Luck and Enjoy!
