Q about April 15 rotation

Hi Cathe. WEEK 3, Wed & Thurs are back to back upper body strength (Ripped w/ HiiT circuit upper body then Pyramid upper body). I was wondering if this was okay to do because I thought you're supposed to give your muscles a 48 hour break between strength work.

I'm not Cathe....but you're right, you ARE supposed to give muscle groups a day of rest. With that said, I don't remember specifics of these particular workouts. Perhaps the RWH is lower weights so your not totally fatiguing the muscles? Pyramid is heavier? Certainly if you have discomfort in those muscles the next day....leave 'em alone.

The 48 rule is for lifting heavy weights that are at least 60% of your 1RM. With circuit training you're using weights that are far less than 60% of your 1RM and thus your muscles don't need as long of a period to recover.

The amount of rest a muscle needs is dependent upon the volume ( number of sets and reps) in a routine as well as the weight lifted. The greater the volume, and weight lifted, the more time a muscle needs to recover.
