Pyramid Upper Body question

Hi Cathe and everyone else--I have a question about the PUB workout. In the stability ball segment, there's a glute exercise where you lay down and put your heel on the ball w/the other leg extended up in the air. (it's in other workouts too but uses a step) For some reason, I CANNOT do this exercise using the ball!! I always have to use a step and I'm just wondering if this is an advanced version that I will be able to work up to as I get stronger or if I'm just doing it wrong and need to change my form. Thanks for any input!!;)

Hi Ashley!

Not Cathe here but I had a similar problem doing that exercise in PLB. I always felt like the ball would just slip and roll away from under my foot. . . and it often did! So I modified the exercise by placing my whole foot on the ball instead of the heel only. This allowed me to feel more in control but my leg still felt "unstable" enough to recruit all the muscles that exercise targets.

As I got stronger, I could push off of my heel only and do the exercise the way Cathe does it. So keep trying. Eventually you will get strong enough to stabilize yourself on the ball.

Hope this helps
Faiza :)

Ashley-
It's fine to start with an 8" step until you work your way up to the ball if you like. That's how Cathe does it in Pure Strength. By the way, it's more of a (killer) hamstring exercise than a glute exercise, though the glutes do get worked.

I just noticed that my subject line and post refer to PUB, when it's actually PLB that I'm talking about!!! I feel like a big Dummy!! Thanks for the input:)
