Pyramid Questions re music and high step

My favourite at the moment is Push/Pull and Supersets and now I'm thinking of getting another strength workout to complement it. I'm thinking Pyramid Upper and Lower Body but obviously I don't want something that's too similar to Push Pull and Supersets. Music is important to me in selecting a workout - I just LOVE the music in Push/Pull and Low Impact Circuit. Can anyone tell me about the music in Pyramid? Also, I don't have a high bench, just four risers with my regular step, but do I absolutely need a high bench for this workout?

I have the Pyramids but I can't really comment on the music. For UB, you need a long bench. For LB, step with 4 risers should be good.

Have you done the preview on the website here. It shows everything that's needed.

Now, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I have a question for others who have this dvd. What is the bonus workout on this dvd? On the back of the cover, it mentions a step dvd. What's that about?

The bonus workout is a combo of upper and lower body weight work - to make a single, full body workout. It is great when you want to do full body and still use this DVD. It runs about an hour long if my memory is correct.

Thanks - I've already looked at the preview and the equipment needed, that's why I'm asking about the high bench and whether it's absolutely necessary for this workout or if an 8" step will do.

There's no mention of a bonus workout in the dvd description though so now I'm confused about that.

Oh, okay. I see. You probably could use your step, but you might not get the full effect of the leg presses in LB. For the UB workout, my club step goes to 10 inches. It seemed to work just fine.

The bonus workout I mentioned before shows up on the dvd itself. I was surprised to see it too.

I was on the fence for a long time before I purchased it because I have MIS, PH, ME, MM and lots of her circuit workouts. But, I love the Pyramids. It's something about the format. They work the muscles differently.

Good luck with your decision.

I LOVE pyramids - especially the upper body! I have been doing it once a week this month. The idea is you do 12, 10, 8, 10, 12 reps with the lightest weights for the highest reps, and the heaviest weights for the least reps - you really work those muscles. And she's got the UB in supersets so you do 2 chest, 2 back, 3 shoulders, 2 bicep and 2 triceps. And the biceps! She is crazy on that one. Cathe is so cute doing this one - everyone is really pushing hard on this exercise - at one point Cathe says I can hear them crying - and I don't think she is exaggerating! I know I am at home!

The music is instrumental - in fact some of it reminds me of music from Magnum PI and Ghost Busters. It isn't especially stimulating/upbeat music, but it helps you to hear the beat so it works for me. I don't know if you'd like it or not. Definitely check out the video clips so you can hear it for yourself.

This is my favorite Cathe dvd. It was my first one. I used to do UB on Monday, LB on Wed and SH bi's and tri's from FitTv on Fridays. I did this rotation for months and lost lots of baby weight.

Thank you all for your help. Can't wait to get this one now!

MJD,
Pyramids are my favorite Cathe workout. I don't have a bench but use the floor for chest/back work and use the edge of my fireplace or a chair for the leg presses. I do the whole workout with dumbbells. I can't comment on the music because I don't really pay attention to music in most things. Enjoy it!
