Pyramid Lower Body Lunges

Cathe-

In the 6 months I've been using your muscle strength and endurance workouts I've gained enough strength to do all of the lunges in all of the workouts. However, I cannot do the lunges in the Pyramid Lower Body workout without reaching total muscle failure on the first set, even without using any weights. I am completely frustrated and don't know what to think. Is it possible that my legs are exhausted from the leg presses on the 14" box that precede the lunges? This is the only explanation I can think of.

What do you suggest?

Thanks so much!

I am not Cathe but...

I discovered a number of months ago when doing lunges that I was not distributing my weight correctly on the heel of the foot that was forward. Focusing on this has really made a difference.

I too find that after 5 sets of leg presses, my legs are too tired for the rest of the workout. What I do now is just pyrmaid up when doing leg presses (so a total of only 3 sets), then do the full pyrmaid for the other exercises. I'm not sure if it would be better to go lighter on the leg presses to manage the full pyramid, so I'd be glad to hear Cathe's opinion.

Regards,
Sharon.

Nancy, Sharon:

what weights are you using for the leg presses? Does Cathe have leg presses on other videos? I can't remember. The ones on PLB are different to the ones on PS legs, because the box you step onto is much higher in PLB.

Is your box set too high for you perhaps? And maybe a lighter weight would help to get you through all the exercises. Perhaps, if you are working with DVD, you could go straight to the lunges, cycle back to the leg presses and then complete the workout from there. Play with the order as best suits you?
