Hey all!
Gin: I just got an email that my HRM is done. They are sending it out in the next 2 days. I can't wait. You were right, it needed a battery, and they checked it for everything else which was fine. I really can't thank you enough for doing that. I wll always be grateful to you... you are so kind!
Robin: You poor girl. You have been sick alot lately... maybe you need a nice relaxing break fro life for a few days?? I got your email, so we're all on board for a GTG in the early spring. Glad it went well at your mom's, that can't be easy. So very glad she is doing well. Sometimes life just puts us where we need to be, you know??
Laura: So glad life is settling down for you. Um, I would say it is about time! Enjoy the rest of your furlough and a little calmness if you can!
So, in a nutshell, the excitement with the boys I spoke about yesterday... Well, last Thursday we were invited to this private event that Susan Cowsill ( of the 60's family band, The Cowsill's who wrote and recorded "Hair" and lots of other stuff, who the Partridge family was based on and Susan who was also part of the Continental Drifters, etc,) was playing at with her husband Russ in NJ. They are actually from N.O. but were up here just for this event. We have known her for a couple of years now... long story short, one of the songs on my boys album was written for Hurricane Katrina and also for her brother Barry ( another member of the Cowsills) who was lost in the hurricane and eventually found and had perished in it. Well, she loved the song, we met her a couple of times and she has been playing it at her concerts ( she still tours) I didn't go because I had another commitment but Pat and the boys went... so, as soon as they arrived they were asked to do that song on stage with Susan, she sang the harmonies and they all said it was beautiful, then they got to play another song of theirs. Then during the 2nd set Susan had two of them come on stage and they did the harmonies on one of her songs, which they nailed and made sound like they had practiced it for months with her! They are big fans of her music so they knew the song very well... then, my youngest ( the guitar maniac) got up during another song, one which he didn't even know but looked at the chords which Russ had written down oin some book for a minute, got up there and nailed it, and also proceeded to "shred" the guitar ( meaning, played the H*@! out of it)and apparantly everyone there went nuts! So, after, Susan said she would like to get some shows together with the boys, and that she wants them to be able to do those harmonies again whenever they can with her because the guy on the album that did it is this guy from Counting Crows ( Adam Gerst sp.??), but he has never been able to tour with her so she never has the harmonies. THEN, she and Russ are coming here to record on the boys album with them!! Her ex husband, Peter Holsapple, who we have also become friends with ( he plays with Hootie now but has played with DB's, Drifters, REM, etc.) is also planning to record a bit on the album. So, we are very excited that these "legends" in the music industry have taken such a shining to the boys. AND, lemme tell ya', my boys just take it all in stride. They are just very humble and have no idea the impact they have on people, and that is what I am most proud of!!
Anyway, whew, that was supposed to be the story in a nutshell. Imagine what would have happened if I gave you the long version!
Off to w/o... GS legs is on tap. Have a great day!
