Push-ups on your toes!

I consider myself an intermediate exerciser and have been trying to increase my muscle mass and strength in my upper body.

My problem is that I cannot seem to do push-ups from my toes. I can only do them on my knees!!!!

I'm not sure if it is my back that gives out or my core, or my chest but I feel like a weakling when it comes to this exercise. (I guess that's what happens when nature puts all your strength in your lower half!)

Does anyone have a good plan or a system to follow so that someday I might be able to do a few? I think at one time a few years back I was able to but nothing seems to be working right now! Help!!

Maybe try bench pressing (flat bench and incline) with heavier weights to build your upper body strength. Your core should always be kept engaged. SH C&B is an excellent workout for building strength. With that said, I still can't do a pull up. x(

Try negative push-ups. Start down, on your knees, then push up. Switch to an "on-the-toes" position and lower slowly. Go down to your knees again to push up. Do as many as you can.

YOu can also try doing toe push-ups with your upper body elevated, which makes it easier. For example, start doing them with your hands on a 12" step. Then when you hit your goal (10 reps?) lower to 10"(you may have to decrease the amount you are able to do). Then to 8", then 6" then 4, then the floor.

Working on both core strength and upper body strength can help with push-ups.
