push-ups and shoulder joints

Whenever I do push-ups, it really bothers my shoulder joints to the point where I have to go to bent knee. Does this happen to anyone else? Do you think it's a matter of form? Very frustrating.

When I did chest presses this morning, one of my shoulder joints popped and cracked through out. Probably not a good sign. So what is the solution?

Don't do push ups (or bench presses) & see a dr.

There are other exercises you can do that'll still maintain chest strength (flies especially, & there are so many variations that you can easily sub them for presses--they can be done w/dumbells, resistance bands, standing, lying, etc.) without straining the shoulder.

Besides, the chest (IMO) is the least important body part where you want to build muscle. The outer pecs are important for, ummm, lift so to speak, but what woman wants that blocky, muscular chest look? You can still give the outer pecs a good workout with a variety of flies until you 1) find out what's wrong w/your shoulder & 2) let it heal.

Hi, sorry you have shoulder pain. I have found doing pushups using a stability works for me. I don't crackle when I do them, but I tense up and get shoulder stiffness when I don't use the ball. I guess there is less pressure on the shoulder area this way. Maybe this would work for you too?
