Push/Pull

So, my next workout in the BodyBlast series is tomorrow - Push/Pull. I just watched it in its entirety - it looks AWFULLY easy ... it doesn't seem like there are very many exercises to work me really hard - one set of everything with low reps? What is everyone's else experience with this workout? It just doesn't seem like it is as intense as Cathe's other weight-training workouts.

My reaction was the same as yours, Mary. I tried using heavier weights to get a better workout, but I just never warmed up to Push-Pull. When I switched from VHS to DVDs, it was the only Cathe workout I didn't replace.

I decided that I will add to my weight workout today by doing some 1RM testing BEFORE my dvd. I haven't looked at SuperSets yet - is that one as easy as well? If so, I'll probably substitute for both PP and SS - maybe with MM and I'll purchase ME. What do you guys think?

I have ME it is more endurance but it is challenging! Yes use heavier weight on PP and SS. I think SS is just a little harder. If you have time do the premixes some are over an hour. I have done PP and SS all at one time, that was fun:)

I only use the premixes on SS/PP--some are pretty lengthy and I like to split my upper body and lower body work as a general rule. Also, the other poster's idea of upping the weights is a good one.

ETA--I just checked out randidiane's profile and ladies--just listen to her. She's doing something right. Woman, you are ripped!

I agree that Push/Pull is pretty easy. For that reason, I really enjoy working it in to my rest weeks. I also like the tibialus exercise at the end. Supersets is harder than PP, but still not as tough as Cathe's other full body workouts.

Mary - I highly recommend your trying the premixes.

I did PP UB 3x's last week, went really heavy and ended up with a great workout.

I just recently got this workout(pp) and the first time i did it I also thought it was really easy.....Try the premixes, there is a UB and a LB on there and a choice between 2 or 3reps! I also used heavy weights and ended up with a good wokrout!

I like the idea of doing it twice too...

I previewed SS but haven't tried that one yet.....

Frankly I love SS/PP -- both of them! I came to Cathe after years of working out in a gym with a PT so I was used to lifting heavy. If you choose a heavy enough weight then you should still get a great workout with PP. And I have never understood this concept that longer workouts are better workouts. I'll take quality/efficiency over quantity any day!
