Push Pull & Supersets question

According to my "Ultimate Guide," Push Pull is 5.54 and Supersets is 5.94. Are they really that easy? I just got the first 2 BodyBlast DVD's last week and thought they were immensely fun. I absolutely loved SJP--Cathe was so relaxed and fun. But I used an 8" step and higher weight than Cathe (which was a switch, since I'm usually with Cathe or having to drop down a little on some muscle groups).

This series is so enjoyable that I put PP/Supersets on my wish list (#4 after BC/ME, Pyramids, and RS/IMAX/MIC). But then I noticed the ranking for these workouts. I really don't want to buy anything that easy. Can you just increase the weights to make it more challenging? Is it worth getting?

As I said, I won't be able to get it for a while, anyway, but I wanted to know if this is a DVD that I should have.

Thanks,

Carol F

Hi Carol! I love these workouts and I just have VHS. From what I gather the DVD would be wonderful. Cathe really got creative with ordinary exercises. Yes, they seem easier than the other weight workouts, but with DVD you can make them tougher and longer. I love to do them on days that I am short on time, but I still feel like I've hit all muscles. And they are fun! I personally don't think you'll be disapointed!

Many people seemed to think that these workouts are easier than Cathe's other weight workouts, and they don't seem as popular as her others, but I've been really enjoying doing the upper body premixes on both of them. This makes the workouts a bit tougher by working more sets of the upper body. I also like the use of the stability ball in these workouts. You can definitely make the "lying-on-the-ball" exercises more intense by putting your feet closer together, and thus adding more instability that you have to work against.

Another thing I really like about these workouts is that the back and chest are more equally worked (several of Cathe's workout overwork the chest in relation to the back, IMO).

I love both of these workouts. I can actually go heavier on a lot of the exercises for these because Cathe does most the reps with a 2/2 count and less sets.

I'm another fan of these workouts. I like to do SS, then add the leg sections and ab section from PP to make it a little tougher (the static lunges aren't quite as hard as Leaner Legs, but it gets pretty "toasty" in there, as Cathe would say). I think this combo is a pretty good workout. I really like the superset style of alternating upper and lower body rather than straight upper and then straight lower body. Carol

I too love both of them...you can keep them as they are for days when you need something a little less intense, or you can kick them up a notch by adding more weight or doing extra sets, or whatever. The pre-mixes also add another dimension with many possibilities. I think you'll enjoy them.

The premixes make these workouts two of my favorites. The double set Push Pull premix I find to be tough and very effective. I'd have to agree, however, that the workouts as produced are easier than most of Cathe's other weight workouts, but they are very fun and great for lighter day. I will do them as produce in a week where I'm also doing Slow & Heavy or The Pyramids; that strikes a nice balance for me.

If you get the DVD, and you'll get some intense options with the premixes. I definitely think they are worth getting.

In my opinion, the reason people rate these as easier is because they are less endurance orientated than many other Cathe workouts, so they "feel" easier. But, I think if you go heavy, these workouts provide more strength benefits than many other faster paced, higher rep workouts. So, if you want full body strength workouts, then these workouts are very useful (and fun).

I agree Shelbygirl.
The premixes are the key to this DVD. Sometimes I think that is why Cathe put this one together this way. If you want easy you can go easy, if you want to kick it up then you go into the premixes.
I had gotten this one by mistake and now I am glad SNM made the booboo!:D
