I love the pyramid tapes, but my hands in PUB just ACHE from the heavy weights and the heaviest I am going on only a few exercises are 15 pounds. x( Does this happen to anyone else? Will my hands get used to it or get stronger kind of like my muscles the more I do the tape? Thanks!

Hi, Angela:

I have the same problem, esp. when my weights are cold. I've found that gloves help a lot. I only paid about $10 for a pair of gloves, and the padding insulates me from the cold and makes the grip easier to deal with. Good luck.

I don't know what excerise your talking about, but I know when Im doing the chest, omg my hands are aching. Also when im doing the bicep too! I know Cathe's says something in there when your doing the chest how your hands get sore. If you notice how at the end shes says shake your hands around. I have been doing this for about a month now and still not use to it, and I don't know if you will or not. I know if feels like my hands are bruise when Im doing the heavier set which is by the way 15lbs too, so I hear you.

I've got the same problem. Even though I go lighter on flyes than on presses, and take a little break between them to change weights, the pad of my hands gets really sore by the end of the last set. It seems to be getting a little better, but hasn't gone away. I haven't had this same problem with any other workout, and I'm not sure exactly why it happens in PUB. More sets than other workouts?

I also can't figure out if the area is cramping up, or if the actual weight of the dumbbells is what is causing the discomfort.

I had the same problem, and my hands also got really cold. So I started wearing padded weight lifting gloves and being careful to lift the weight with my arm muscles and not grip my hands so tightly. Now my hands don't hurt. I'm also seeing more results in my muscles, surprise surprise.

I guess we're just going to have to "tough it out" so to speak. I'm actually breaking up the Pyramid workouts so that I work my muscles twice a week so it is less weight work in each workout. I think that will help. Have a great day!

Wow ... am I glad to hear that I am not alone! I have the same problem when I do the chest work in S&H, also using 15 lbs. My left hand hurts more than my right and it is just like a bruse. Thanks for posting this!

Maybe we'll develop little hand muscles...tee hee. Actually, I've figured out that my hands ache the most when doing the chest exercises with 15 pounds.:7

Owie hands

Add me to the list of sore hands! I really didn't notice it though until I started doing just the pyramid up option and moved up to 20 lb. dumbbells for the chest flyes & presses. I use 20 lb. dumbbells for other exercises too but my hands only cramp up & make me feel like I'm going to drop my dumbbells on my face during the chest work. OUCH! That would hurt! I use weight lifting gloves. I think my hands are just unaccustomed to holding such heavy weights in that position for that length of time. Maybe time will improve the problem as our hands adjust?
