PUB "RE-vamped with Stability Ball"

RunDiggity

Cathlete
I did PUB last week and used the Stability Ball on as many exercises as I could think of instead of the bench, even when doing Bicep Curls I put one foot back behind me on the ball and balanced -

MY CORE THANKED ME!

I have always loved this workout, but I needed a way to make it more challenging without increasing my weights, and so I swapped out the bench for the stability ball - it made a big difference :)

Just a thought for those of you who love this workout but needed something NEW to Bring It again!!!}( }( }(

In fact, I just might do it again tonight - tonight is arms and core of choice for me.

I am using a very loose workout rotation this month

Cardio,Upper,Lower, circuit, stretch, ect - so its fun to play around a bit and I have re-discovered some workouts in the process!!

RE: PUB

I love being able to use different equipment (or 'toys'!) in workouts to make them seem fresh again. I add medicine balls to cardio, get out my Smartbells for core work, and also use my stability ball for weight workouts that don't usually use it.

One thing I've done (which you may have done as well) is do 1-arm rows with one hand on the ball, and the opposite leg held off the ground (the same leg as the rowiing arm).

Of course, with some of these moves, it's necessary to decrease the amount of weight used, but more muscles are working, so I think it's a good trade off. And, as you said, it takes things up a notch without going up in the amount of weight used.

RE: PUB

Thanks for the info. What a great idea. I'm definitely going to work that into my future workouts with PUB. I love the workout "as is" but you (and Kathryn) are right, that will keep it interesting and challenging without increasing the weight. I wish I'd thought of it.

I'm trying your idea too, Kathryn.

RE: PUB

Wow! What a wonderful idea. Thanks for sharing. Come to think of it, why not use them for our normal daily activities, like use them as chair or couch during watching T.V. or reading books? Wonder what this will do to my core? :)

RE: PUB

I would love to sit on a stability ball all day! I have thought about asking my boss, but it probably wouldn't come off as professional enough and unfortunately being in the insurance industry I meet with clients all day long - - -

RE: PUB

I've always done PUB (and other w/os that use a bench) with a stability ball because I don't have a weight bench. At first, I just used my ball because it was right there, and now I love it because it forces me to balance and rely more on my core muscles while I'm lifting.

Kathryn, what are "Smartbells"?
