PUB/PLB Bonus Combo

So a while ago I posted asking about the pub/plb bonus combo, and finally did it last night, have to say I really like the workout, it contained a good solid set of exercises, the time went quickly, and I have a good amount of soreness in my lower body, I think it clocked in around 55 minutes. This is a great addition to add to the list of full body weight workouts available.

The bonus combo for those who are wondering, combines some of the lower and some of the upper for a full body workout, but it only does 3 sets, light, medium, heavy weights, then moves on to the next exercise. They even give you a little screen of what comes next which tells you what weight Cathe will be using, so you get a couple extra seconds to get set up.

Thumbs up (as usual) for this workout. I just love discovering all these pre-mixes, it's just like getting a new dvd each time! :D

Yeah! Good to know! I ordered those sunday and they should be here today so maybe I'll try this tonite in lieu of GS BSB! :)

I always like it when somebody posts a review of the premixes and combos. I usually don't do them when I don't know what they are (and I never bother to preview them myself), but after somebody puts up a post like this, I give it a try! :)

Dela: OMG! What fun that was! I was dying by the end and will NEVER do all those calf raises after the first time I ever did PLB and couldn't walk for over a week, but what a great workout! I didn't really take advantage of the pyramid weights, as I didn't want to over do it (I haven't really worked out for the last 2 weeks of the year) but it was a great workout... I don't think the back of the DVD said... how long is that workout anyway?

thanks my friend for the suggestion... I generally check out the premixes, but probably would have never thought about doing the bonus!

Hey Dani, I did not see this follow up post before. Glad you liked it, I think I'm going to do this one now as a matter of fact , I believe it is about 55 minutes long, and I agree with the calves, I have to be careful to not over do it, I don't do calves enough and I have created such soreness that I could not walk right for days, and then it effects subsequent workouts for a couple of days.

Update, just finished it, the run time for the combo is: 53:20

I gotta say, those biceps just kill me. I can't increase the weight on the third set, I actually had to drop back down to the first weight. Seems like biceps in general are one of the tougher muscles for me to work. A while ago, I noticed by biceps were looking much larger than anything else, so I guess I backed off the weight a bit (the fat around them was making my arms look huge) so I can't lift as heavy for them right now. I'm certain STS will change that! :eek:
 
Thanks for posting - sounds like something I can handle right now with the pregnancy this late in the game. The entire pyramids have been killing me (I did PUB total today). The 15s suddenly feel really heavy for biceps and the pullovers I can no longer do (due to being on my back so long). But maybe the fact that they are just up the pyramid once instead of full pyramids will help me! Thank you!
 
I haven't done this premix in a long time but I remember I tried to go heavy for all three sets to really get my total body "worked." I love the pyramid workouts. 'Some of Cathe's best in my opinion!

I did PUB on Thursday and those biceps killed my too! I had to drop down from 15 and then still couldn't finish that round! Something to work up to I guess, but generally if Cathe's struggling I know there is little hope for me....

Hey Laura, I'm sure you will love it, I've done it twice now, and this one is a keeper! Another poster suggested just going heavy on all 3 sets, I'm going to try that next time.
