Cathlete
I did pub yesterday evening and this morning my bi's are aching!(sp?)

I thought I would need a straw just so I could drink my coffee.
And while I have been sitting here trying to type, my chest muscles, where the arm meets the chest, are now achingx( "ohhh man!" I can't wait to see what hurts next!

Have a great day everyone:)

Colleen

I so know what you mean! I did GS C&T's and I could hardly lift my arms to wash my hair in the shower or even blow dry my hair. I felt that workout for 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Becky

Hi Colleen and Becky,

I did PUB two days ago (on Friday morning) and am still feeling it today! My bi's and tri's aren't too bad, but my chest is still killing me! I could barely lift my arms while doing Imax 2 yesterday, but figured that it was good to get the muscles stretched out a bit.

I'm going to be doing my new GS series next week, and am already getting nervous about how bad the DOMS will be!

LeanneM

I just got doing doing pub this morning and I know that I will be feeling it tomorrow.

Leanne - you are going to love the GS series. It's one of my favorites!!

Leanne, and Jane,

I have heard so much about GS Legs and it is on my list to get,
I'm not sure about the other GS dvd's b/c there are so many
upper body workouts and I do train my legs more than my upper
body.

Colleen

Colleen,

You're going to love GS Legs. It's one of my favorites. Even more then BG. But I warn you, you are going to be very sore the next day. :)

JennieR,

I love b&g and the firewalkers are wonderful! I know it might sound crazy but my outer upper thigh hurts so good afterwards :)

Colleen

Jennie!

What are you doing up at 4:30 woman  :p

(Of course I was up at 5:30, trying to do work on computer and kept getting roadblocks)

Have a beautiful, wonderful day :)
Colleen

I ALWAYS feel it in my biceps the day after doing PUB - love it! }( The other after-burner I can always count on is GS:C&T - my entire chest is on fire for days!

Colleen,

I get up ever weekday at 4. :-( That's only because I'm at work by 5:30 a.m. and get to leave a 2 p.m. :)

The chest and bicep sections of PUB are the toughest for me. My forearms are really burning at the end of the chest routine and I have to really grit my teeth to finish biceps. What weights does anybody use to compare myself? I use 10, 12, 15 on chest and biceps both.

april71rn,

Well, I know you have me beat on both, for chest 6, 8, 10 and on bi's 4, 6, 8. But I did just start the lifting again after about one and a half years. I had been doing mostly step until I found out that lifting is better for losing body fat and gaining muscle definition. I was afraid I would get bulky.

:)

hey jennie,

what do you do at your job? I'm a assistant teacher at headstart, I'll have to be getting up at 5:30a everyday again starting in Sept.x(

It's nice having summers off, 1st time in about 14 years (i just started this position last year) :)

This is funny, I don't remember feeling the doms in my biceps from PUB but I did it yesterday morning and I am really feeling it in my bi's today!! I do GS BBS a usually and I never feel it like this. I guess switching it up is a good thing. I am using 8, 10, & 12 for the bi's and 10, 12, 15 for chest.

I just did pub this morning and talked DH into joining me. He was dying! He said he could barely shave this morning after doing this w/o. I hate to think how he'll feel tomorrow!

I do the workout in one of two ways: one is with longer breaks between sets, to work more on strength, the other is as-is (which I do less often) to work on endurance.

When I do it in 'strength' mode, I change up weights between chest flyes and presses, since presses are a compound exercise that can use more weight.

Last time I did it in that 'mode,' I used the following weights:
chest: (flyes) 15/20/25; (presses) 20/25/27.5
back (which I think Cathe goes too light on, especially compared to chest, since back is larger): pullovers 27.5/30/32.5; double-arm rows: 20/25/30
shoulders: 7/8/10 (but I do an overhead press instead of an anterior raise, and use 10/12/15 for that)
triceps (I do lying extensions instead of kickbacks, at 8/10/12); French press: 25/30/32.5 (dumbbell not held the way Cathe does, because I have small hands, and can't hold anything over about 20# that way without it feeling unsafe)
Biceps: 10/12/15

When I did the workout as-is (for endurance), I used the following weights:
chest: 12/15/20
back: 12/15/20
shoulders: 5/7/8
triceps: (lying extensions) 8/10/12; French press: 12/15/20
biceps:8/10/12

Colleen,

I'm a Medical Coder. I could work from home but then I'd never get anything done. ;) I could go in later but I choose to get up early. That way I'm done with my work and can go home. And that's always a plus. :)

It doesn't matter when I do PUB, it get me every time. Especially the chest. That's where I feel it the most!

thanks, Kathryn!

Thanks, Kathryn!

I like your version of the "strength mode." Any particular reason why you do an overhead press in place of the anterior raise for shoulders?
