PUB Chest

When PUB first was released, I seem to remember many members here having trouble with the chest portion because their hands/wrists fatigued way before their chests ever did.

Stopping the tape and massaging out the kinks in one's hands didn't seem to be very helpful as then the flow (and basically the whole point) of the exercise was destroyed with so many stops and starts.

I've recently added PUB back into a vague type of rotation, and am now facing the same problem. My chest is ready for more weight, but I'm being held back my how much (actually, how little) weight my hands can take. I've tried different types of gloves, stopping the DVD, etc., all to no avail.

What was your method for increasing your weights in PB chest? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for reading my post!

Susan,
I found that, for me, it was partly a matter of time and partly a matter of consciously using the loosest grip that I could safely use during the chest exercises.

You can also try adding weight by holding lighter weights in your hands and attaching heavy ankle weights to your wrists, thereby changing where the stress is felt.

I know Lauramax posted about some new hand grips a little while back that were supposed to help with this problem, you might try a search or asking her about them in the open forum.

Good luck,

Thanks for the reply!

I did order some new gloves a long time ago - newgrips.com, I think it was, but found it's really just a think piece of neoprene that didn't help much after all.

The ankle weights is a good idea. I will look into that.

Susan,
I had another thought. I don't know what type of handweights you are using, but there may be a different grip on some kind of dumbbell out there that might help with this problem as well. I don't know, but a different size, shape, covering? You could google it:)

:D
