PS, S&H or PUB/PLB?

Cathe Fans, you have such a great sense of community. I hope you'll extend some of your wisdom to me.

I was a fit cyclist before being hit by a 50-mph car 5 months ago. I was not doing any weight lifting, but now I want to start strength training with Cathe & crew to aid my recovery and decrease my fat-lean ratio. I'm interested anything that will improve my postural muscles.

Cathe recommended S&H, but she didn't know I don't have any of her videos. Your forum has made me wonder if that's the best series to START a collection. (I can only get one.)

Can you all help me decide which series to start with? I don't need cardio from videos, and I like lifting at a slower, more form-aware pace. So I've narrowed it to PS, PUB/PLB, S&H. What differences do you see between these three?

After 5 months of inactivity, I'm not in top shape. But then, I don't feel like I need to lift the same weights as Cathe! I'm more interested in starting wherever I am and building on that.

Thank you so much for your input! It's helpful to ask someone with firsthand experience what the workouts are like.

S/H fits your needs better than PS or the Pyramids. It's slow, controlled, the best for building strength and mass and for watching your form, IMO. Your heart rate won't go up except maybe during the legs part, but there is a full minute between slow/heavy sets.
It's plenty challenging, and it's one of the newer ones so it's modern-looking.
You can very easily just find whatever weight works for you on this one and grow with it.

So then IMHO = in my humble opinion?

Thanks for your input on this. I was worried that S&H might not be right for me because I read reviews that said it was NOT for beginners. You reassured me to go for it.

Wow, Julie, you are inspiring! I'm sure you're going to love Cathe's workouts. I'd been Firming for over 10 years and never got anywhere near the results I get with Cathe.

Before starting, please talk over a new fitness program with either your doctor or PT. Not only will it assess your fitness level, it will also put your mind at ease. Good luck with your quest to regain your strength.

HI Otisan, I had to reply to your comment about doing the Firm for over 10 years. I had been doing it for 16 years and just recently found out about Cathe! I was very happy with the results from the Firm but could not believe the further changes in my muscularity after doing Cathe. Sounds similar to what happened to you!

Hi Juliee,

I started with the PS series and MIS both for strength workouts. You can make these workouts more "beginner" by using less weight and focusing more on form until you get to a point where you want to go heavier. I have been working out for many years primarily with the Firm and heavy at that and then started with Cathe a few months ago. Even thought I was not technically a beginner, I was with Cathe and I went much lighter at first while still experiencing amazing results! You can always go slower than the pace of the workout and that's what I like about Cathe, besides a million other things! She always encourages you to go slower, lighter and to stop if you need to (and she goes lighter and slower herself which really motivates you to work at your own best pace). I have had more results from emphasizing good form with Cathe that I have had in all my years of working out. I am also getting a very defined "six pack" simply because she showed me how to do certain ab work that I previously had been doing incorrectly. Need I even mention how great some of her cardio workouts are???

Hope this helps you!
