Protein Powder

Hi Cathe,
I have searched for the answer to my question with out good results, maybe you could help. I am curious what do you think is better protein supplement, Whey or Soy?? Or is there something else out there that is better for post workout drinks? Anyone else that has some insight please let me know.

Some input from this 'anyone else':
I think hemp protein is the best, superior to both whey and soy. Hemp contains all 10 essential amino acids, omega 6 and omega 3 in perfect proportion, and the protein in hemp is 66% edistin and 33% albumin, which makes it very well assimilated.

I like both Vega products (their meal replacement for a more complete drink, and their bars, but the flavor takes some getting used to) and nutiva products (www.nutiva.com ), which offer both plain hemp protein powder, and hemp smoothie mixes (lower in protein). I often will mix a scoop of Vega with a scoop of a Nutiva smoothie.

Nutiva is a really cool company, IMO. They are responsive to customers (I suggested that they offer a deal on one of each of the three smoothie flavors, and the next time I ordered, the deal was in place!), offer good prices on their website ($13.99 for a container of the shake mixest that sells for $19.99 or more in stores--even less per item if you take advantage of the 'three-pack' deal---and free shipping on orders over $30 or $35.

Another protein powder option is pea protein powder, or a combo of pea and rice.

I researched this a little while ago because I wanted to introduce extra protein into my diet, specailly after a weight workout with Cathe, the reseach I found showed hands down that whey protein was much better. It digest faster allowing it to be absorbed through the body quicker which means going to where you want it to go in the fast time possible to do its job the way it should.

I read this is Fitness, Shape, and Women's Health magazine. Ironically the month I started to research this very question it was in all the magazines I subscribe to, funny how that works.
