Protein powder in coffee??

I didn't feel like making a shake this morning, so I put a scoop of my whey protein powder in my coffee. Does the heat in the coffee affect the nutrients in the protein. Like when you cook out some nutrients in veggies for instance. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think protein is affected by heat.
Did it work? A friend of mine thought that some protein powder I gave her was a coffee additive (she didn't read the label!) and put it in her coffee. It was lumpy and odd and didn't break down the way coffee additives do.

I tried to make hot chocolate out of my chocolate protein powder once and it instantly clumped and was yuck!

Did this work?? If so , you might be on to something (caffeine and protein in one! )

I did have fat free half and half in the coffee. I made sure the water was pretty hot as well. I don't know if this may have prevented the powder from clumping, but I do know that it dissolved well and tasted great.

Technically heat does do something to the protein, but it's no different than making a protein pancake or something.

I have put protein powder in my blender with ice and coffee and sugar free creamer. It tastes good like that. I haven't tried it in hot coffee. I would guess it would depend on the brand and type how well it dissolves.

When I put my protein powder in hot water it clumped. So, I mixed it first and then heated it. It worked!
