protein/carbs/fat ratios

Has anyone else ever experienced their bodies naturally leaning more one way or another in regards their protein and carb intake based on their workouts?

Since I log my meals, it's easy for me to see how my type of workout effects my eating, but I never noticed until now that when I do rotations of very heavy lifting and lifting most days of the week (5-6) due to split workouts, my body will naturally crave more protein, about 20-25% and less carbs and fat, but if I'm doing an endurance rotation with lighter weights, I'll take in more carbs and my protein intake will maintain at about 15% during that time.
Does the body naturally call for what it needs in regards muscle/tissue repair and building?
Any thoughts on this and has anyone else experienced this, or am I the only one with a quirky system?
I actually find it quite interesting and I'm constantly amazed at how intelligent our bodies really are.

Donna, I was reading a couple of posts recently on the VF forum where folks said that any heavy lifting workouts caused an increase in protein cravings. I've never watched my percentages so, I can't say...other than the fact that the S&H series makes me 'oink'.

Oh yes ... I get that as well.

When I've have an really tough karate class to where I've almost passed out because I hit exhaustion, not only is my clock cleaned for about 3 days, but I crave some of the strangest stuff. One of the most common cravings I get is skim milk. I've drunk a 1/2-gallon in the middle of the night. I don't usually sleep that well when I've hit the wall of exhaustion that hard.

I rarely eat eggs, not because I don't like them or they're not part of my diet, I just rarely think about them ... but during those times, I'll eat three scrambled eggs and whole-wheat toast before bed.

I don't know about you but during those really tough times, I cannot get full come save my life. It seems as though I'm always eating something. And it's usually protein, salt or fat. Sometimes sugar, but not too often.

So ... oh yeah ... my eating is definitely driven by my workouts more so than my emotions.

Just my experiences.

Oh yes. I think that the body calls for what it needs. I will only crave what my body is lacking. That is why I don't follow a strick diet. The other day I was craving chocolate and ate a tiny piece. Today a bunch is sitting in the fridge that I have no desire to touch. Ya know why, because I am not on a diet. I just try to eat healthy and listen to my body.
