PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: SEPTEMBER "SCHOOL DAYS"

Stacy

Cathlete
I cant believe it's September already, some are back to school, some just continuing to learn new things and new lessons in life.

I might do Afterburn before I head to the game, lotsa things to do this morning so we'll see how it goes!

have fun at the game! working a twelve today, started at 4am...hope to get in stretch max at least after work.
twelves suck! especially when there's football to be watched.

I am happy to report that for the third week in a row I got all of my workouts in. progress :)

and, I brought a salad and turkey sandwich for my lunch today.

have a good one everybody!

Andrea, I liked working 12s but 4 am is tough time to start. Good job on the progress. Momentum on workouts is great! Hopefully you got to enjoy your packed lunch. I feel like I'm being nurtured when I bring my lunch with good food choices. Plus I get to spend time relaxing rather than running to spend money on cafeteria food.

Stacy, good job on AB. I'm keeping that one in the more frequently used pile.

Today I did LIS LIC, pm 5 (bonus and blast) plus STS TB legs and core. I haven't done a leg strength in a while, so I expect I'll be feeling it.

I put all of my running around with kids/classes/school/activities into one planner and came up with my workout plan for the next semester. One thing is for sure, Wed will be an Off day. I penciled in some upper body in the mornings before class a few days a week. We'll see...

Oh, I saw Deanna on FB, she seems happy for the holiday weekend. : )

I did even better today than I thought I would...took the doggies for a walk when I got home before doing Stretch Max, by the time I got done with those things I forgot about my whole loooong day of work! It was so nice.

OK gotta get back to my football game. Somehow my team is trying to lose to Missouri State. Yipes.

Good morning, looks like September is starting off on a good note for us :) (and for our football teams).

Andrea...good job on packing your lunch and the doggie walks, I need to walk my dogs more often but we have no sidewalks in our neighborhood so it makes it a bit tough, especially since one of my dogs like to bark at cars! Do you have a workout rotation you are trying to follow at this point??

FnV...thanks for the Deanna update. My work schedule varies each week so I sit down each week and plan out my workouts, wish my schedule was more regular, but such is life. I definitely did better last week with diet by packing my lunch the day before. I still had too much processed food at dinner (eating at sporting events), but now our baseball season is over so that will help immensely!

My lower body/booty is pretty sore today from AB and from walking the stadium steps yesterday. My upper body has been feeling soft so today I'm going to do Bi's, Tri's and abs, not sure which specific workout, I might string a few segments together.

My niece is visiting from out of town so we're meeting the family for brunch, I'm planning on an egg white veggie omelet.

Have a good Sunday :)

I did CTX Bi's and Tri's and then I did the ab section from CTX All Step, but instead of doing it on the floor, I did it on my stability ball, it was like having an entirely new ab workout, felt it much more in the core this way. I'm going to have to revisit some of the other older ab segments and try them on the stability ball.

Interesting idea with the ball, Stacy. Did you revisit all the Barry Boot Camps? I did not and would be interested in hearing how you felt the cardio was in that series. I think there is a reason why they are not in my regular repertoire of workouts but I'm not sure why. I know I like the one with Barry/chest.

I did CrossFire, skipping the last plyo segment for a 40 min workout and then added chest and back from PUB.

I've got avocado abundance; they are going into my smoothie, salads and getting paired up with scrambled eggs.

Between new month, new week, new season almost and new school, it does feel like a fresh beginning. Have a nice eve~

I never really got into the BBC cardio b/c it was too high impact and bothered my knees. I do like the strength segments though, just havent been in the mood for them. I'm enjoying DeltaFit (and so far my husband is liking them too) and anticipating the delivery of the two Horizontal Conditioning workouts I ordered. I'm not yet sure how to rotate all these, but I do feel I'm not getting enough pure strength training for my arms, yet I do get some b/c these workouts have alot of pushups and planks so that obviously uses the arms. The DeltaFit basic program is just three 30 minute workouts per week and I can add in whatever I'd like on the off days, so I like having the options.

Avocado...I've never bought one before if you can believe that. I've had guacamole though. I need to broaden my horizons but when I'm at the store I never know how to pick a good one same with other things, are they best soft, firm, hard etc etc.

Andrea, how is your Sunday?

ugh...I'm sooo tired!

Up until 9:30 watching football and back up at 2:30 to work, then of course we had two people call in (out of seven) I'm pooped! But already thinking about my workout tomorrow :)

Avocados...funny I bought one the other day and the checkout girl asked me what it was. I was like "who hasn't had an avocado?" Stacy I heard once to look for ones that are dark, very slightly soft, and check for slight wrinkling around the stem. That wrinkling around the stem thing has helped me pick out good ones. However lately a lot of them have been not very flavorful and some even have hairy strings in them...gross...but those are usually ones that are lighter skinned and shiny. I like the dark Haas ones myself.

And FnV, I'm having one tomorrow morning with eggs, black beans and (ahem) a little bacon! Yummers.

Stacy...my team was a good example of progress not perfection yesterday! They stunk it up until midway through the third quarter and then exploded for 51 points. Fun stuff! Yours did just as well I noticed, i think our scores were almost the same - 51-9 for my Cats. hee hee I dooooo love football.

I am following a rotation, the beginner one! ha ha I can't wait until I know what workouts you all are talking about! Even better I can't wait to do them myself! i am on week four, really though it's like week 6 of the beginner, I'm doing two weeks instead of three of each section. However, I refuse to do the add on lower/upper body again. I really do detest the tubing. Here is my week:

M- Body Fusion/ stretch max
T- Lower body workout (checking into a good LB 30 minute premix, not too tough but not too easy, your suggestions welcome! I probably have the DVD if it's not too too new) and stability ball abs or maybe something from ab hits
W- Body Fusion
Th- Basic Step (or maybe Low Impact Step?) and abs
F- Total Body...Push Pull I think instead of the add ons
S- Stretch Max
Sun- recover from another weekend of work...cuz I gotta go back the next morning.

I was reading about CF and TTM on my break today, I think I like the sound of these workouts. I've got a long way to go before I can tackle them, but I'll get there. Easy does it so I don't hurt myself. A couple of years ago I was on a slow and heavy kick, did something to myself and torqued my pelvis, couldn't raise my foot inwardly (as in insole up) and couldn't get myself out of a car seat without help. I had to do physical therapy for six months including some ultrasound treatment that was "bare butt" as my therapist said, on my groin area...lets just say I never, ever, ever want to do that again. Longest. Five. Minutes. EVER. lols....

have a great evening and enjoy the day off tomorrow if you have it off! Aw heck, enjoy it anyway no matter what!

Andrea, thanks for the tips on avocado shopping :) There's a 33 min lower body premix on the Supersets/Push Pull dvd called "Lower Body Blast" (pretty sure that's the name). What other workouts do you own?? I can suggest a few other ones to branch out to when you feel you're ready for something tougher, not just lower body, but in general.

P.S. Our score was 56-10! Did I mention I LOVE football season????

Cathe does have an Intermediate Rotation in case you hadnt seen it...

http://cathe.com/forum/f100/march-07-intermediate-rotation-236484/

I'm thinking I'll do the Muscle Max 23 min LB premix. It looks similar to the LB add on, plus it's a little shorter so I can get in the warm up and stretch since I'll be doing this before work tomorrow.

I have my workouts plotted out through December sometime, and yes I'll be moving into the intermediate rotation when I get done with this starting in October.

I'm feeling like I *could* move on from beginner workouts, especially Total Body Sculpting and Basic Step and absolutely the add ons, but am hesitant to because I want to take it slow and honestly, I'm feeling the workouts I am doing right now pretty good. I'm slightly sore all the time and things like Body Fusion can still kick my butt, so I'd better stay where I am for now. :( I do have the beginner/intermediate HS Circuit workout and will be incorporating that, I think next week. I'm doing several miles of dogwalks each week as well, so it's a little more work than beginner-beginner.

I could not sleep last night! Finally fell asleep around 5am, and now it's 8:30am, I'm forcing myself to get up so I dont sleep the day away. I'm still pretty sore from Afterburn, 2 days later!! So that, combined with my lack of sleep I'm not sure even my 30 minute DeltaFit workout is going to be done today!

Andrea, definitely sounds like you're listening to your body, that's the way to go too! Hmm, my arms are sore too from the bi's and tri's I did yesterday.

Hi, FvN!

I need some coffee....

Oh I hate that! Hope you don't feel spaced out all day. Hope you get in your 30 min workout. No, YOU WILL GET IN YOUR 30 MIN WORKOUT! You can do it sister! ha ha

I have too many DVDs to list, just click on my profile I think I have them all in there.

Sweaty dogwalk, outta the way! My monsters were having trouble breathing, its sooo muggy!

Doh, sorry about the bad night Stacy.
Andrea, your workout schedule sounds good, plus you are tweaking it as needed. Good for you.
Maybe I'll nudge Deanna on FB....
anyways- I did a Weider XFactor and then PUB core (uh, except some of that pike work on the ball) and PUB Shoulders from the pyramid down pm.
I made a nice breakie w/ some oats, almond butter, cinnamon and apple. Probably wasn't as yummy as the pb cookies dd made last night, but I didn't eat any so I can't say for sure. : )

FnV, that oatmeal sounds delish! yeah tell Deanna to get over here! she got me here :)

body fusion and stretch max, done. Made it through BF without once pausing the DVD :)

salad for lunch...with a lil avocado :)

Andrea, thanks for the extra push to get my workout done, "sista" ;)

I did the warmup and bonus step routine from LIS Cardio Supersets and then I'm starting week two of the DeltaFit rotation, which is another 30 minutes.

Eating...needs help. I sometimes wonder if I'm capable of ANY willpower??!! Doesnt help to always be celebrating holidays with skinny inlaws!!

FnV...I cant do spikes on the ball at all!! I hope with the HC workouts I'm getting my core will someday be strong enough, or maybe my balance will be too! So glad you can't give me any updates on the pb cookies ;)

oh my! muscle max lower body done. had to pause a bunch so will have to do my ab work after work. shower time!

have a great Tuesday everybody!

I AM doing this! :)

ooh and i hate those skinny inlaws. hubby is 6'4", 165 lbs. his sister is one inch shorter and in figure competitions. my whole family is short round and Irish....

hahah, I did triceps only so far so you are smoking me in the workout before work/school.
I AM doing this! :) <--love it
Stacy, I have a head of cauliflower I need to use so I went to skinny gina and found this Dad's Creamy Cauliflower Soup | Skinnytaste
I will let ya know how it turns out.
Have a great Tues. I'll get bis and dance in later and IDK about anything else. My knees are owie from something....I think just squats with wts.
