progesterone cream & perimenopause

I already did answer but I'll do it again so you won't be mad at me. There is no down side to using natural progesterone creams. It stopped my heavy bleeding and helped with the hot flashes, although it didn't stop them. I've read that the progesterone levels go down before the estrogen levels so using the cream helps. I'm not sure what one does when the estrogen level goes down, which it eventually does. Alexis

Natural is the key word. Some progesterone is gotten from wild yams and it isn't the good stuff. Dr. Lee's book goes into xenoestrogens at length. They are environmental toxin such as pesticides we ingest and substances that are leached into food by microwaving with plastic wrap on your food. They act as estorogens in our bodies so that even when progesterone is produced, estrogen is dominant.

Pesticides and other environmental toxins act as xenoestrogens and cause what Lee calls "estrogen dominance. It contributes to early menopause and breast cancer. Covering food with plastic to microwave it is really bad since nasty chemicals leach into the food! Buy organic when you can! Use vinegar for floors, lemon juice and salt as an abrasive cleanser, bleach is ok, it's an irritant, not a toxin! Stuff like that!

Hey Bobbi, ALexis:
please don't sweat it!!!! I'm not mad at you at all, that's why my "drag this topic back" had a little winking eye after it! ;-) ;-) ;-) I'm playing with you. We all colonize others' threads all the time, but I also find this to be the beauty of female conversation with good buddies: it leaps from topic to topic and sometimes you end up miles from where you started, you just meander along or bounce off eachother's enthusiasm....I love this type of chat and often call my friend in the UK for 2 hours at a time for a mega dose of it!!!

Have your fun!

I just dragged my topic back in case people browsing might see the direction the thread had gone and assumed from that that I was no longer interested in getting other answers to these questions!

I am all a-thirst for knowledge on the topic and so thanks to all who have already contributed, including Alexis! So far, I can see no disadvantages to the progesterone cream apart from the expense.

Clare

Don't know what brands you're looking at but the natural stuff that I buy from the compounding pharmacist is $36ish and it lasts for about 2 1/2 to 3 months. Also, it comes in a metered pump so it takes the guesswork out of dosage amount. Alexis

What's this "we" stuff? Claire, I really didn't think you were mad. When I first started posting as a newbie, I would be so disappointed that people were talking to each other and not answering my question! How soon we forget.

Bobbi, thank the Lord we weren't in high school together cuz we woulda been in the dean's office on a daily basis. And we'd be laughing! I find you irresistable too. Let's hug. Alexis

Claire, whoops, I did it again! Sorry

Thanks everyone for the info. Keep it coming. I am not having any problems YET but want to be ready & armed! Enjoyed the "colonizing" too! :7 Now, I am NEVER guilty of that!!!! I just hi-jack the whole thread! :)
