pregnancy & yoga

HI there - I'm Pretty sure I'm pregnant but am waiting for my doctor's appt to confirm....I'm only a few weeks along and I've lightened my workouts since I took the at home test. But I feel great and don't think I need to stop but don't want to risk anything by tackling IMAX2 or Bootcamp until the doctor gives the OK.

One thing I am wondering is about YOGA> The fall session of my classes start next week. I was planning on doing 2 classes a week - one Hatha and one Astangha?> (Power Yoga - for my first time).....anyway, I'm wondering if I should continue with this plan. I plan to tell my instructor and get her input but maybe I should wait until I speak to the doctor altogether...I'll probably just go once a week to hatha...any thoughts?

This is just my experience, but I did Ashtanga yoga unmodified until I was almost 6 months along (I'd been doing it for 8 years previously so my body was used to it). At that point I couldn't anymore because my shoulder joints got floppy and I was losing strength -- also, bending was getting difficult. So I switched to Hatha. I did Hatha up until the day before I delivered my daughter. I had to modify as I went, but I was still able to get a good stretch and calm my mind. Once I returned to doing Yoga after the birth, I found that I had maintained my flexibility and strength, which was nice.
