Preg & TTC - Week of April 14

good morning everyone

anne, thanks for the refresher on your condition. i hope your d and c is not too painful and you heal quickly. i will be thinking of you.

lisa, kate, hope today is not nauseous. more carbs perhaps?x(

maggie, i too feel very very jiggly. oh well - par for the course.

today is another home day for us and the sun is out. we will take long walks and play a lot. i got some organizing done in ds's new room yesterday during his nap after i ran. hope to do more of the same today as i slept in again:eek:

Hi everyone. TOday is our newspaper photo shoot. I'm cleaning like crazy, but I needed to do it anyway. This place is gross. Gus is "helping" with his own bottle of soapy water.

I got a new sports bra and I LOVE it; just wanted to share. I usually think underarmour bras are kind of flimsy, but this one holds my preggo boobs in place and my giant nipples don't pop through (sorry if it's TMI, but it's true).

I did IMAX 2 the other day. Only used 6" step and didn't do the tuck jumps. I could get through it amazingly well.

Lisa, Glad you had a good walk. Feelin' chubby too huh? Like you're showing but no one else can tell?? Stinks! Soon we'll have giant bellies and long for the day we looked like this!

Morris, Sounds like a nice day for you and DS.

Kristan, Hope the shoot goes well! Glad you found a good bra. I'm dreading nursing boobs smashed into a s.bra again - ow! Can you say low impact cardio???! Glad you rocked Imax2! That one sounds like fun - haven't done it in a while.

-----------
Doing okay today. Too busy with work stuff. Gonna go read to DDs ,....and hopefully NAP!!!

Wow, you ladies are still kicking butt on workouts being preggers. I sometimes have to do 6" bc of my knees so kudos to you all on doing 8" preggers! And Morris, still running! Whew...you make me tired thinking about it!

Definitely need a good bra too! I found some fairly cheap one's at Target and I just love them. They're about $17, but nice support and stretchy/comfortable too.

Lisa - Sorry you're still tired and sick. I really hope you have a turn around in the next few weeks and get some more energy. I'll be thinking of you for your genetic counseling. I'm sure everything will go fine for you. I'll be saying some prayers too...

Well, I was in at 11:30 today and out by 2:30, so it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think the worst part was trying to pee after the catheter. I don't know why they used a catheter for a 5-10 minute procedure, but when I got home, ooooohhhhh, it hurt. Drinking plenty of water to keep that at bay.

I never like surgeries and do my best to avoid them, but in this case, the physical pain so minimal compared to passing it yourself and emotionally it's easier as well not having to see everything that comes out (sorry TMI), but helps to talk it out in my head. Should have the tests in the next few weeks in the baby and they'll let us know what's up with that. DH has been so strong for me through this, I'm really lucky to have him. We pigged out on ice cream bars later, since I was feeling better.

Now, I need to focus in starting to eat healthier and lose the 8 lbs, that I gained. Mostly from emotional eating...my bad...I think the nice summer days will really help me keep my spirits up too and want to get out and step it up a notch!

Chat later and sorry if I missed anyone in the personals. Hi to All!

Anne--(((hugs))) Your attitude has been so strong through this trial. I'm so glad your husband has been there for you. I think that would be critical. I'll just keep praying for you.

take extra good care of yourself
Maggie

Anne, Thanks for the update - been thinking about you. Glad DH is a good support for you and I assume vice versa. Your patience WILL be rewarded. No sweat on the ice cream bars and 8 pounds. (((big hug))))

Hi Maggie! How are you feeling?

anne, thanks for the update, and my prayers are with you. glad dh is so supportive. echo what kate says - no worries with ice cream or 8 lbs!!

kristan, you made me laugh with the big nipples. i definately get that. also am apprec iative somewhat that i do not go to the gym anymore so i do not have to see people:) i just got a new champion sports bra and love it too. i need more support for running than other stuff.

hi maggie - how are you doing?

hi jen, hi kate.

i dragged myself out of bed at 4:40 this am and pushed thru my kbing. yesterday i ended up doing a 7 mil run and plb, so i was very sore today. after 30 minutes i got into it though. hopefully it will keep me going thru this looonnnggg day.

question for everyone - who has experienced what they think is a significant change in the curvature of your back? i feel like my back is totally concave along my spine, i suspect from the position of the baby. it is kind of weird though. anyone else? bbl

sorry, but last bit of update is more of a confession. i totally ate wayyy too much junk yesterday. i went to bed hungry on tuesdayb/c i was too lazy to eat more so i completely over ate yesterday morning. after breakfast, i had a big bran muffin and a bagel from whole foods. those carbs tasted so good. i was really good the rest of the day, but i feel the water weight today in addition to the pregnancy weight. yuck!!! i feel so thick. but, today, all i want is peanut butter - better than straight carbs i guess}( }(

Morris, I've seen a chiro for maintenance stuff for years so I actually have a great back! Are you in any pain?? No sweat on the carbs - your baby needs the energy! the pb sounds great!

Doing GREAT today - hopefully it sticks around for a while!
\
How's everybody else doing??

kate, my back does not hurt, but i think it looks like i am constanly sticking my backside out behind me. i think i notice it most when i am doing weight work. hopefully my good posture will return in 10 weeks or so. so glad you are feeling good today - i hope it sticks around!!

Anne, I"m sooooooooo sorry. I cannot imagine the pain you are going through. You are so sensitive, with your descriptions. It's can be so hard for mommies & moms-to-be to hear of something like this happening to one of our "sisters". Do you have a good support system to talk out your details with? I'll be praying for you and your DH, this is no doubt a challenging, yet exhaustive season for you. Hang in there! Thanks for sharing. ;)

Yes, Anne, Another big hug your way!! Any physical pain? Thinking of you too!

Morris, 10 weeks to go?! You must be so excited.
Re the butt sticking out: Hey, if you got it, flaunt it!!:)

Last night at bible study, I looked down at my jean-clad thighs, and boy do I ever look chubby. I don't know why I thought I would do things differently this time. I won't even stand on the scale any more. Fortunately, my belly is so big that people don't notice as much as I do the weight gain everywhere else. They say--you carry it all out front--maybe they are just being polite, because my arms, legs, butt and boobs are all looking very portly from my point of view.

Also, this doesn't help--a woman at church is about as far along as I am apparently--I couldn't even tell she was pregnant, even after others told me. Honestly, she is slender and doesn't even have a bump. How is that possible at 20+weeks? Grrrrr....Yes, I freely admit I'm jealous. And to have people say--you're so big and she's so small--I mean is that at all helpful? I never compare fat and skinny people pregnant or no. It just seems rude to me. Oh well, done with my rant.

I'm craving sugary stuff, which does not help. Okay, now I'm really done bitching and moaning--at least for now.

On a brighter note, I am feeling the wee one move more, but some days she's more active than others--no consistancy.

Morris--my spine definitely curves more during pregnancy, but then I get sooooo big up front. I do have lower back pain, but it will go away after I give birth.

Kristan--my nipples are big too--and sensitive--owie--I haven't been this tender during pregnancy for a long time.

Kate--I'm fine, just really tired, but I'd forgotten to take my prenatals for several days and I think I get low on iron when I do this.

Hi Lisa! Hi Jen! (((hugs Anne)))

Maggie:)

Maggie, Like you said in your post to Tonilah, you lose it all so please don't beat yourself up. People are rude - wouldn't you love to make snappy comebacks about THEIR waistlines?!? Try being due exactly 5 days earlier than your Size 0 SIL. Now I'm not a big person (most call me petite) but she is a WAIF. Looks anorexic. I'm quite happy to show. How fun to feel the baby move. I'm looking forward to that.

I got to WO tonight - C&W minus the all-on-your-back abs. Need some ab dvds where you dont lay down.

Sleep tight! I've been up since 3AM - I know I'll sleep good!!

Anne - Your strength and attitude is so incredible. I'm glad you're able to start over again and have those ice cream bars! You totally deserve it!

Morris - I've been pigging out and not even excercising hard at all so don't feel bad. I had my whole grain cereal, toast and canteloupe at home for breakfast this morning then still proceeded to eat half a maple oat scone later in the morning. Talk about oinkers! How do you like PLB? I don't know why, but I don't care for it. I love PUB, but I can't remember the last time I did PLB. Maybe I shoud pull it out and see if I feel any different toward it.

Kate - I just realized also that in a week or so I can't be laying on my back either. Up since 3am? Has the mid-night bathroom visits started for you? I have to go at least once a night and I dread getting up. I haven't been sleeping well either.

Maggie - Don't you love people who don't know how to censor their comments? I agree with you regarding saying things like "you're so big" even while pg. I'm 11+ weeks and feeling gross already. My arms have lost a lot of tone and they have actually gotten skinnier, but also flabbier. My belly is flabby and out there also.

Hi Melanie!!!!

Hi Jen! Hi Kristan!

Anyway, I'm planning on working biceps and back tonight. I'll probably do kb for cardio. I am still feeling fatigue and waiting for that burst of energy you're supposed to get in your 2nd trimester. At least the nausea is at a very minimum now and the heartburn is very minor also. The weekend is almost here!!

Lisa

i think that 2nd trimester burst of energy is a fairy tale after your first baby. i am so tired all the time, and i attribute it to rushing after ds. maybe that is just me. i certainly have nothiing to campare to amggie as far as numbers;-) scones sound good too.

lisa, i do like plb. i use a combo of barbell and dumbells so i never stop and rest. it goes super quick and my heart rate actually gets up pretty well too. what kb did you end up doing?

kate, glad you got in a workout. let me know if you find any good non-lying ab work. when i did 4ds kb yesterday, i actually thought i was working my abs a bit too at the end, esp with weighted gloves.

maggie, i hate all those ocmments about size. and truthfully, no matter what size you are, it doesn't feel great when you are pregnant. i think our vision is distorted. sorry for the back pain. thankfully i have not had that at all. when does yours hurt?

i meant to get up this am but finally slept well last night, so i caught up. but just let someone try to keep me from my treadmill this afternoon after work....}( }( well, i hope to do something at least. dh works all weekend, so i will be busy with ds but probably will get nothing done. i hate using my litttle guys awake time to do errands when i know he'd rather pplay at a playground. but, must go to target and get stuff too. decisions decisions...

hi jen, hi melanie, hi anne, hi kristan!

Lisa, No midnight pee sessions for me. I've never had this with either of my previous pregs. I get so little sleep (up late working) that when my head hits the pillow I am OUT! You'll feel better soon. Tomorrow I'm 14 weeks and the last 2 days have been my absolute best yet. Have a fun WO tonight.

Morris, I need to get soem weighted gloves. Hope you get your TM time today. Glad you got some sleep! Did you end up at the playground or running errands?

DDs are spending the night with my mom and her DH. A first for DDs over there for the night. I hope it goes well. DH and I went to Outback and then I dragged him on a walk with me. and I mean DRAGGED! We did 3 miles and he complained the whole way!! Gotta love him. He's thin/muscular and can work harder than a bull but has no love/enjoyment for exercise.

Headed off to bed soon!}(

I need to go upstairs and do some cleaning, but I'm stalling. I taught ds (13) how to make bread today and proceeded to eat a bunch of hot bread straight out of the oven with butter, so it is good or bad that he can now make bread? There is no tae kwon do or hap ki do tonight, so everyone is home and not rushing around. It's nice.

Kate--A size 0 sister in law would be hard simply because people seem to need to compare, I personally wouldn't want to be a size 0 for my build and my dh would be extremely unhappy. He likes a little meat on the bone. I'm just always afraid when my weight spirals out of control whilst pregnant, because--what if I can't lose it this time? And oohhh--a night alone with your dh--I NEED one of those!

Lisa--I'd like that 2nd trimester burst of energy too! I've been taking a "cat nap" on the sofa for about 30 minutes every afternoon this week and I never do that.

Morris--my back hurts when I try to kickbox, so that's out during pregnancy and it's a bummer, because kickboxing is usually good cross-training for my creaky joints. It also hurts after I get up after sitting or lying down for a while. Also, I don't know your son's personality, but some of my kids like going on errands with me-they find it exciting. Others don't on the other hand...anyway it's always hard when the dh is gone more.

Hi Jen! Hi Kristan! Hi Anne!

Maggie:)

Morris - Yes, it is harder when you have a LO to run after. That's why I waited so long because my ds was 2 when I was pg with dd and that was hard! I did my own kb mix because I took years of kb classes that I usually do my own thing when I get bored of my dvds. When non-pg I kick the bag and hit mitts with DH, but he refuses to let me while pg. I also did biceps and shoulders last night which felt really good.

Kate - Today has been a really good day. I felt a very tiny bit of nausea after dinner and smelling some food, but it didn't linger which was a nice change. I did not take a nap and now I am wiped! Wow, how do you find the energy to stay up so late? I can't keep my eyelids open past 10 these days.

Maggie - I feel the same way about being afraid of not being able to lose all the weight. The last time I gave birth I was still in my 20's and had a much higher metabolism. Now I'm in my mid-30's and I wonder how hard it will be to lose all the pg weight. Mmmmm...fresh bread and butter sounds really good! I love when we don't have to be running around to some practice or game or class for the kids.

Lisa

I am pooped. I was really hoping to workout again tonight, but I did not get my afternoon nap in today and I am just exhausted. Tomorrow is going to be a pretty busy day. Ballet classes in the morning for dd then I have to stop by work to pick up something then all of DH's cousins are coming over to visit later in the day/evening. I feel tired just thinking about it! Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!

good morning everyone - any other insomniacs out there? i woke up at 2:30 am and did not fall back asleep until 5am, for only 1 hr. oh well. i did get in a great run yesterday, so i was happy. today will be imax 2 drills and hi lo knockout i think.

maggie, is it the impact of kb that is hard during pregnancy? amy's new kb workout is easily modified to low or higher impack (in the ring).

kate, i have not been to an outback crabshack since we lived in florida 5 years ago. i love their fish. a walk sounds nice. we took a shorter one with dh in back pack.

lisa, hope you got some good rest! any fun plans for the weekend?

we are off to the park soon. i will bbl
