Preg & TTC - Week of April 14

chefkate

Cathlete
I changed us back to having the TTC. Anne, come back when you're ready. We miss you already.

I posted to a few last night.

I hope everybody has a good week and we have nothing but good news.

I'm going to go get my breakfast. Have a good one!

Hi,
Lisa-you are in Hawaii, right? That's where Lost is filmed. I saw the one DVD that showed how they film the show, and it was so neat. I love Heroes also, and can't wait for that to come back on either. Lost is kind of like that, very different too. It really makes you question everything.

I had a bad night of sleep lastnight due to this darn cough. My chest gets SO tight at night, and I just keep coughing and coughing. I slather Vicks on my chest and drink water/take a bit of Robitussin (all dr. approved) to help, but it doesn't always help. My chest cleared a lot this morning, so I hope it continues to clear all day long so I can sleep tonight. People keep scaring me that I could have pneumonia, but I think I would know that. It really feels like bronchitis which I just have to wait out (I am used to that). I don't want to have to go on steroids just yet.

I would like to try some yoga today to see how that feels. If it's all good, then something more tomorrow until I am back to my workouts.

Have a good one.
-Jen

Morris, Glad you're getting some GREAT wo's in!

Jen, Bad sleep sucks. Hopefully the yoga relaxes you and maybe you can take a nice nap afterwards! Don't rush the WO if you're not ready tomorrow. take it easy - you're growing a baby! Easier said than done, I know!

HI everyone. I didn't get a change to tell Anne how sorry I am for her situation.

I am sitting here eating Hostess mini powdered do-nettes and drinking coffee. We have a birthday party to attend today and I am planning on doing some serious cooking this afternoon.

I got a call from the local paper wanting to photograph our house for the home section. I guess the writer had seen us on HGTV. Of course my husband said yes and now I am scrambling to get the house presentable. Here's what's sad- I don't even care. It sounds like a huge PITA.

My large breech hairy baby flipped positions, I think. I was feeling a head in my upper left ab and now it's not there.

My week was good; Amy Bento kicked my butt.

tues- 1 hour cardio at gym
weds- Bento ASC circuit #1 - super ouch
fri- Bento ASC 3-5 plus combined 1-5 and power up section, plus abs form APX
Sat- 1.25 mile swim
Sun- planning Jannis Saffell Brand New Butt Sculpt

Lisa and Jenn and Kate- glad you guys are feeling mostly better with some setbacks. Remember my cure all- Pepsi and Poptarts

Morris- if I were to buy one of the new Bentos, which one? I am generally not very "in" to kickbox.

Maggie- I'm starting to replenish my freezer meal supply. Today I am making a bunch of spinach lasagna. I went shopping yesterday and overheard someone say about me, "I am glad I am not her..." I guess my overflowing cart was scary. I cannot even imagine what your cart(s) look like.

I tried the Dave's tanner. I got a little color. I like it because it doesn't stink! That alone will compel me to use it. I think I am going to get a spray tan and use the Dave's to keep it going.

I am 28+ weeks.

Kate - Thanks for keeping the TTC in the group. I'm not going to give up trying. It's hard to go through each time, but I still have Faith that God will give me a child some day. I've heard of some women that have had 6 m/c and then have gone on to have healthy children. I'll get this one tested to see if it was due to my balanced translocation. I need to know. Nothing has happened yet, so will probably have to schedule the D&C. I can't wait for it to happen, it's too hard and I remember the pain the last two times naturally and not sure I can go through that again.

Jen - Hope your cough goes away soon. That's annoying not to be able to sleep at night.

Lisa - How's the morning sickness? Gone, I hope...

Kristan - Nice workouts! Spinach lasagna sounds great! I remember the overflowing cart when we were kids. Dad usually went and didn't like to go a lot (no more than 1 every couple of months), so I remember being so embarrassed to push 2 carts! We had 5 kids in the family...

You crack me up with your 'large hairy baby'. Glad to hear it has flipped!

Hi Morris!

Kristan, those rotten little donuts are so blasted addicting! Cool on the house news! Great WO's.

Anne, What is balanced translocation? Let us know how things progress. again, so sorry.

donuts??? ymmmmm!

kristan, awsome workouts! if you are not a super kb fan, i recommend hi lo knockout. it is seriously tough!! there are 4 hi lo sections, and after each is a knockout that is kby - last no more than 2 or 3 minutes. the hi lo is hard but dancy and fun. if you are looking to her last series, hi lo dome is great fun too. i too laughed about your big hairy baby. i am hoping my guy has stayed down. at 20 weeks he was breech, but at mylast visit they thought he was head down.

jen, so sorry you cannot sleep. did you try the mucinex?

hi kate - hope you are feeling good today!

anne, your spirit and attitude are amazing. i hope things progress soon.

i had a great 8 mil run today and did upper body premix of muscle endurance - that is so hard!! hoping to walk everyone when ds gets up from his nap....

Kate - Yes, I live in Hawaii. I love everything about it here except the prices! Thanks for starting us off this week!

Jen - I feel so bad for you just hearing how miserable you have been. Do you have asthma normally? I know my FIL has a hard time during allergy season because he has asthma. I hope it continues to get better for you.

Morris - I'm excited that I can finally walk my dog, but because I've been so sick the last month or so, it hasn't happened yet. I do feel a change in my nausea so I'm hoping soon.

Anne - You are amazing for going through all that you have. I hope you get pg soon after this. Nausea still hangs around in the evenings, but it has gotten a lot better.

Hi Kristan! Hi Maggie!

Well, my workouts stunk last week. I did 2 workouts. That was horrible. I can't seem to get my energy up and at night my nausea is lingering. I'm hoping it'll get better real soon. I did do upper body though, but not much cardio. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow so I'm hoping things continue to get better.

Lisa

Hi,
Anne-You have such a positive attitude, and you are truly an inspiration. Thanks for sticking around here:) .

My cough is still here, but looser. But, get this for gross...I was changing out of my pj's this morning, and noticed a dark spot on the right side of my ab area. I inspected it a little closer, and it was a tick:eek: . I guess one got right in there during the night??? Damn my cat!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, I never had one in me before, so DH and I were freaking out. I looked up online how to remove one, and he followed the directions, but dropped it on the floor (still can't find it), and parts were still in me!!!!! I called my sister (derm), and she calmed me down. She got in touch with one of her derm friends around where I live. I was able to meet him at his practice to have the rest removed. He said since I am on the z-pack anyway, that would cure Lyme disease IF (the smallest IF) I did have it. WTF??? Morris, I do have Mucinex and am going to try it. It's safe, right?

Kristan, send some spinach lasagna my way. I have to make more of that (my DH doesn't like it at all, though).

Hi Lisa, Maggie, Kate!

-Jen

Morris, Great WO! I can't run 8 miles NOT pg!!! If I ever had to run to save my life I would die. I can step with the best of 'em and do BC til the cows come home...just don't make me run!

Lisa, We took a cruise around the H. Islands pre-kids. It was wonderful.. I'd loe to go back to Kaanapali Beach some day. Some day! You'll be out of the nausea soon. There were 2-3 weeks in there I only did 1 WO. You'll get back to it soon. Just let that baby grow!:)

Jen, Too gross on the tick! I woulda been freakin' out too!

--------
I just did DM cardio Blast and Classical Stretch Hip Flexibility. Feelin' a little yucky, but it will be time for dinner soon so that should take care of that! Bring on the food!!!

Anne--I'm just so sad for you. I will keep praying that God grants you a healthy baby. What strength of character that you are able to stay with us. I'm also wondering what the balanced translocation is and if there is anything that can be done.

Kate--are you feeling better? You must be around 13 weeks, so welcome to the 2nd trimester! You'd asked about why I homeschool and it's because I like giving my kids a faith-based education (we are Christians), I like being able to tailor their education to their individual needs and interests, and I just plain like having them around most of the time. It's not for everyone, but it has been very productive for us. It's nice we live in a country with so many educational choices as not all are so free.

Jen--That is freaky about the tick--as if you didn't have enough on you plate medically speaking, so to speak. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Kristan--"large breech hairy baby"--I love it. Actually, our cart is never unusually full, but we do a lot of costco shopping and I always have to chuckle at the concept of "family-size"--not our family--we need like restaurant size. I'm just bummed about the price of groceries climbing so much. I'm paying 25% more for groceries now than I was a year ago.

Morris--your workouts are amazing, but then again, I was remembering how I "bounced" through the first couple pregnancies with hardly any discomfort (compared to now). I feel so old:p

Lisa--oooh Hawaii--have you lived there a long time? We have friends that go every year and I vacation vicariously through their beautiful pictures. What a lovely place. Do you have large spiders, though? I'm extremely arachnophobic...

Well, I had an okay workout week, but I missed today's workout because I drank too much diet pepsi at my husband's stock holder dinner last night and could not sleep at all. I think I got around two hours--shame on me I should have known better.

ASC2 (and I discovered an entire weight workout hidden at the end--neat)
4DS CST premix
70 min stationary bike
4DS legs
40 min stationary bike
skipped --too tired, I'll do it tomorrow on my rest day.

My 9yo dd just gave me informing me that she is giving me a baby shower at 8:40, which is in 11 minutes, so I'd better go see what that's all about:+ )

take care all
Maggie
22 weeks tomorrow--I'm stealing back my original due date, what can they do, fire me?}(

maggie, have a fun baby shower!! awsome workouts this week. i laughed at your restaurant sized items.

jen, sorry about the tick. i don't thtink you should worry too much though as you have the abs on board, also, ticks neeed to be on you for quite a while to transmit disease. hope this finds you better today.

hi kate - hope this is a good feeling week for you!!

hi lisa - things feeling better for you?

anne, if you are there, i am thinking of you today.

kristan, i saw your post on the open forum about sharon twombley's step. i keep meaning to try her and have not yet. what do you compare her stuff to that i might have? (lots of cathe and some amy)

i did body max 2 scrambled this morning on an 8 inch step and it almost killed me - no more 8 inch step!! so i say now.... anyways, it is a beautiful sunny but cold day here, and i hpe to go for a walk after work. have a god day everyone

Morris- Sharon Twombley's stuff is on Netflix if you want to try it before you buy it. All Body Cardio is on the CIA Double Cardio DVD. All Body Attack is on netflix too. It's a lot like Cathe DrillMax, although I think the cardio is harder and the weights are a little easier. Sharon is very cardio-innovative and I really like her personality. Her DVD's are long but I find they are easy to break up into 1 hour segments. I think she's married to Greg Twombley who was/is Cathe's producer.

I am going to buy Cathe GS legs and Sharon Ath Step Jam on collage.

Maggie, Good memory! I just "turned" 13 weeks on Saturday. How was your baby shower?! LOL! Too cute!

Morris, You're still using 8"?! I *detest* 8". I can do it but I have so much more fun on 6" so I stick w/ that. Regarding Perfect Preg WO - undecided. It was a good WO and I will keep doing it. It left out biceps and seemed a little heavy on shoulder work compared to other body parts. No cardio in it. I think it will grow on me and as I get further on and need to modify Cathe stuff more I'll getmore into this one. The gal who mailed it to me really enjoyed it.

Kristan, yay! New workouts! GS Legs will *fry* you!

----------------------------
Is anybody thinking about the RT? I really really want to go. By then I'll be just starting my 3rd trim. Dh is okay with it. I'm sure I'll have to modify and with 4 WO's planned for Saturday I am gonna be tiiiii-red! I guess I have a couple weeks to think about it.

Today has been a great day. I went to a KB class with a friend who is just getting into fitness. I KICKED BUTT!!!!!!!! There were those punching tower things and I was punching and kicking mine all over the room. The instructor's just jiggled a little. Thank you Cathe!!!!

Hi ladies,
Sounds like everyone is getting some good workouts in these days. I've started to do some myself to keep my mind off of things.

The balanced translocation is that when I was developing as an embryo, my #2 and #19 chromosomes, the ends broke off and then reattached to one another. So I have a #2 chromosome with some #19 on it and visa versa. Since they reattached and I didn't lose or gain more chromosomes, I turned out o.k. The problem is that some of my eggs can have this. When my baby tries to develop properly, it can't if it gets one of my 'bad' chromosomes because it tries to match up with Jim's. If it were to get a good #2 from Jim and then my #2 with a bit of #19 attached to it, it will miscarry, b/c the genetic information is off. Hard to explain, but suffice it to say, b/c of this, I have a 75% chance of miscarrying.

The baby could get a perfect egg and have no problems or get one of the 'bad' eggs with the bad chromosomes and miscarry. They could try IVF and 'weed' out the bad one's that develop, but DH and I have a hard time doing something like that morally and on top of that the cost of IVF is $20,000 each time (I don't have a $$ tree :). I guess I'd rather put the $20,000 toward adoption then try IVF, when my chances end up being less than 20%.

So, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer here, so I'll end it there. I have my D&C scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, so will just be happy to be able to move on.

I think/hope someday my baby will get a good egg...thanks for all of your encouragement ladies and I'll be back when I'm not so depressing. Take care!

Anne

Anne, (((big hug)))
Thanks for the anatomy lesson.
I hope the D&C goes well amd you have time to heal.
YOU ARE A GOOD EGG!!!
(((((((big hug)))))))
Our thoughts are with you.

Anne--you certainly don't depress me. I'm sad for you and your dh, but you aren't depressing me. I'm glad you shared your information about your condition. It will help me to pray more specifically for you. ((((hugs)))

Morris--I won two wild flower stickers at my shower.

Kate--good workout. I'd be really embarrassed to have anyone see me workout right now. I'm jiggly and I have to modify an incredible amount.

take care all
Maggie

Maggie, You have me :) ing about your "shower"!
I feel pretty jiggly too but everyone says its in my head. Liars.:)

I was kinda nauseous today. This weekend was not too stellar either. Guess I was getting too cocky!!

Hoping for a great tomorrow for everybody.

Anne - big hug your way!

Anne - Hope everything goes well and like Maggie said, you don't bring us down and now we know specifically to pray for that good egg to be fertilized by DH's boys!

Maggie - That is too cute about the shower.

Kate - And think, you were kicking butt while 3mos pg! I'm in the same boat as you. I was feeling great yesterday thinking the worst is over then today was not a good day. I felt nauseated and now I'm starting to have really minor heartburn.

Morris - I couldn't even imagine trying with an 8" step pg! I normally always do 6" anyway because of my knees and my fear of being clumsy. I started off with 8", but haven't done 8" in a long time so I wouldn't dare being pg!

Hi Jen, Kristan!

I went walking today on the hills and that felt good despite fighting through my nausea. I ate dinner and feel a little better now, but the nausea and fatigue is getting really old. I'm 11+ weeks and I just really hope my energy level starts increasing the closer I get to my 2nd trimester. I have my genetic counseling and u/s next Wednesday. Excited and nervous at the same time. I also worked out yesterday on triceps and legs. This is the most I've done in a couple weeks. My belly has also popped out considerably in the last few days. I'm still too small for any maternity and yet my "big" clothes are getting limited also. I have a few select things I can wear right now.

Lisa
