Precious Free Time

Well, I finally did it. I quit my 2nd job!!!! I've been working 2 jobs for almost 3 years now. I got the 2nd job so I could qualify for a mortgage - it was supposed to be a temporary thing (like 6 months) and I've been there for almost 3 years now. I basically work 7 days a week and take one weekend a month off. My regular job is 45 hours a week, Monday - Friday. My part time job is 15-20 hours per week (sometimes up to 30 hours) and includes some evenings and weekends.

I'm going to miss that little bit of extra income but when I gave my notice yesterday, it was like a huge weight lifted off me. I will now have time for myself and I can focus on my new healthy lifestyle without worrying about time to fit workouts, meal prep, etc. in.

I just recently moved in with my bf of 5 years (about time, I know) and I have no kids, but he has 2 that we have every other week (boys, 6&7). I'm excited to be able to share some more time with all of them and as selfish as this sounds, more time with myself.

Now I can put the finishing touches on my home gym and be able to work out regularly without worrying about schedules. I just ordered 7 new Cathe DVD's to go with the 2 I already have (I started with Basic July 1st and I'm working my way up the progression ladder) so that should keep my busy for a while.

My goal is to be physically ready come the new year to purchase one of the STS series and really give it a go. I'm currently doing WW and have lost 11.8lbs in 7 weeks and have 25.2 more to go to reach my goal weight of 135. (I'm 5'4" and 36 years old so I'm thinking 135 is a good number for me to strive for)

Sorry to ramble - just needed to share. I'm excited for my "new" life to begin. :D

Good for you! I quit my second job back in April so I could be home with my kids more and it was the best thing I did. We are all happier.
Great job on the weight loss! :)

Good for you Ruthie! It is never selfish to look after yourself. It is a necessity so that you are around to enjoy your BF and his two sons.

Goodness Sakes! Congratulations! After the past few years, you're going to get to find "you" again! You're pretty new to the boards, so let this be your official (((welcome))) from all of us at Catheland!!

Thanks everybody!!! I toyed with the idea of quitting it for so long but I feel so damn guilty!!! It's a retail job and the staff turnover is huge that I'm one of the originals left there now!! But I honestly feel is was a great decision for my 'mental' health and my 'physical' health as now I can devote more time to my new healthy lifestyle. I want to workout more, I want to read more, I want to do "nothing" more, I want to spend more time with my bf and his boys, and I want to cook more!! Maybe even sleep more!! All of those things were hard to do with both jobs and when I did do anything extra, it was always rush rush - never 100%.
Cathe has no idea what she has done for me in such a short time!!! I can't wait to track my progress!! My goal....to be a success story!!!

Congratulations Ruthie! I could never work more than one job! My personal time is SO important to me! Make the most out of it! I know you will!

And welcome to the forum! Hope to hear from you more often!

I love this forum! Lots of good info and everyone is so quick to answer questions for me! It's a great source of info. Now that I have "time" to do a decent weekly rotation, I need to work on my diet!! Apparently I'm not eating enough!! Again, a lot of that is lack of time to plan / prep my meals so that will change too. I have an awesome 2 week eating plan from Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Book which I am starting to follow to get my body used to more food. I should have been a chef - I seem to be fixated on food 24/7!! LOL. But everyone tells me, it's 80% diet, 10% fitness, 10% genetics. Genetics I can't do a bloody thing about, fitness I'm working on, diet is the big hurdle and I'm prepared to "leap"!!

20 years ago when I started my "real" job, I immediately quit both my part-time jobs. I was afraid I'd work all three forever because I wouldn't want to give up the extra income. Best decision I ever made.

Enjoy the "extra" time to spend with your family.
