Prebiotics

A trainer recommended prebiotics for a month in order to help me burn pesky abdominal fat. I am very fit(weight lifting junkie & aerobics instructor) & eat veggies with every meal(I mean a raw broccoli at breakfast kinda girl), but after years of bad eating & 3 kids, I struggle to get rid of the fat around my middle. What are your thoughts on prebiotics?
