There is this family not far from where I live, their child went missing 8 days ago, and they just found her body in the basement of some mans house just a block away!!! Please pray for the family as they mourn the loss of their child, I am in tears that someone can steal the life of a precious 5 year old. And the sick thing is he has a wife and child. they went looking for this poor girl before they found her body and all along her husband had killed this poor child.

I am absoulutely speechless. How very disturbing and sad. I will keep this family in my prayers. I am going to go give my boys an extra hug this morning.

I live in Utah and this morning when I found out about Destiny, I was sickened. The local community searched, prayed and worried about that little girl for over a week. I am stunned and saddened.

This sick thing he live in the house right behind their house and the police knocked on his door the first day and refused to let them in to search his house, I keep thinking maybe she was still alive that day? I am sick about this whole thing, I went up and searched for a little,

LeslieMarie,

Our family up north searched too...

I honestly had a bad feeling the first day. Maybe it is because of all of the other horrible things in the news in other states.

I think the FBI and police will have a lot to answer for in this situation. They are telling everyone that they cannot just search a home for no reason. I have a hard time believing that...

So sad.

I agree with you, I think they had reason, like his behavior when asked if they can search his house, that should have raised suspicion in my mind, I think they have a lot to answer to the public, not only did they mess up the Elizabeth Smart case they botched up this one. At least that is my feelings on this, I just hope he rots for his crime.

My heart breaks for the family.

Sorry to be vulgar but this &%^$ pisses me off. When are we going to get serious about protecting our kids in this country? I'm so damned tired of hearing about kids molested, killed, brutalized not only by strangers but by their own family members. There was just a story here about a 3 year old locked in his room with a broken arm for months. His crime? He said a couple of cuss words. I want someone to break his father's arm and leave him in a room for three months. I'm actually not a strong supporter of the death penalty, but I can't help but feel that if they find a dead kid in your basement it should be an automatic death penalty or at least life in prison, no chance for a plea bargain etc. When I think of a little kid spending her last days on earth in fear and pain it makes me want to scream.

Sorry for the rant.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow - what a ride!’ — Peter Sage

Sparrow, I'm totally with you. I sometimes don't respond to posts of this type because I feel so much rage for the perpetrators. I don't know what the hell is wrong with some people. And for the record I do support the death penalty so I have no problem frying the *sses of criminals who deserve it!

Anyway, I'm so sorry for this family.

Marie

I feel sick about this. We live in a country that doesn't value it's children. I'm in favor of the death penalty for anyone who rapes or murders a child. I think they should have to die in the same manner as their victim.

Leslie, my prayers go out for this family.

Amen. I really was beginning to think that I was going insane...most people around me have grown numb to these stories. Each time I hear of similar crimes I am equally outraged. It takes every bit of self control that I have not to SCREAM!

I can never read or hear about these horrid stories without crying. It is really close to home with me. Sparrow, never apologize for a rant about abuse, neglect or murder of a child. I'll always rant with you.

When a child's life is at stake I believe a police/FBI officer or CPS personnel should burst into any home or vehicle they choose...deal with the inproprieties later, but try to save the child first. Had this been done with one of my adoptive children, he might not have suffered physical abuse, starvation, and the attempt to murder him. The powers that be in law enforcement and child protective services err on the side of protecting the rights of adults and that is completely wrong.

My prayers are with this family.

I'm praying.

I heard about this on the Columbus, OH news this morning. How incredibly sad and outrageous. My heart goes out to that family.
