power yoga-WOW

So i just did a power yoga dvd called Progressive Power Yoga by Mark Blanchard. I've had these dvds for a while but never did them. It was 90 minutes long and I couldn't believe how hard it was to hold my own body weight in certain positions; not to mention how inflexible i have become over the years. I found it more challenging than my regular weight workouts both mentally and physically. I dripped with sweat during this workout. Even though it was a tough workout i feel energized right now and not like i ran myself into the ground. I know many people who don't care for Mark as an instructor. He is a bit creepy/ touchy feely sometimes during the workout with his students (not just his wife) but i think its a great yoga dvd. It is a bit advanced but he tells you not to force any position and with practice it will come. The headstands and handstands are the most difficult in this workout in my opinion. So i just wanted to share.

kariev,

Wow, it sounds like you had a great workout! Yoga rocks! You know, I think I have this dvd. I think it was in with a bunch that someone sent me a year ago, but I haven't tried yet. I'll be sure to give it a go!

Cheers,
Sandra

I love his DVDs too! I have The Foundation and The Culmination - they're both great and very tough. I do find him creepy but that doesn't matter to me - I can get a good workout with any good instructor and I don't need to feel I "connect" with them.

You've inspired me - I haven't done one since July so I think I will pull out The Culmination for tomorrow!

I enjoy his Core series, he is tough, my abs are shakin' when I finish. I have several of his yoga workouts. Reminds me of Tony Horton and Gunnar Peterson rolled into one.

If you like Mark, then you would love Bryan Kest. I would love to run my fingers through his hair!

Trudie, Sting's wife is coming out with a yoga dvd as well. I prefer Sting to do yoga with ;)

Gosh I have had this one for at least 4 years...I attempted it once & never revisited because I felt (and looked) like a total dork! Time to re-visit this one! I actually recall liking Marks style! HA! I guess creepy can be a good thing!
Thanks for bringing this DVD back to the forefront of my mind!!!

just wanted to rave that today during my workout i managed to do a headstand without falling over or using a wall (sometimes i cheat LOL) It was awsome and the weird thing was it was sooooo peaceful and relaxing being upside down. I just ordered his new yoga series called true power yoga. should get them next week. if your interested you can see some clips on his websitre www.truepoweryoga.com

kariev- I have Mark's True Power Yoga and really enjoyed it. Congratulations on doing headstand! It is a truly wonderful feeling. Now if I could only get handstand!
