Power Lunges Using Full Length of Step

Okay, guys....I posted this question on VF, but really thought afterwards that I should have posted it here.

Here's my problem: You know those lunges that Cathe does on the step, like in Interval Max and Step Works, where she does it using the full width of the step? Well, I am PETRIFIED to even try it. I'm afraid I'll end up on my butt with a twisted ankle or something.

For now, I either do the "regular" lunges on the step or go "behind" the step and "pretend" to do the lunges as if I'm actually on the step (I hope all that made sense!).

But do you guys think I should push myself more and attempt it? I don't know, just wanted other Cathe veteran exercisers to let me know what they thought about this.

Thanks.

Love 'Em

I love to do the full length lunges. I make sure my step is only 6 inches and while Iam doing them I look down and watch my feet it helps. You could try them with only a 4" step and see how that goes and if that isn't a problem for you then go to 6".

power moves

Hi. not to be a wet noodle, but I wouldn't try a move you feel weary of during the video itself. You are probably afraid of them for a reason, you know your body mechanics. I would try them cold, well after a warm up of course, but rehearse them when your adreline is not up and pumping etc.. That way you'd be less likely to push yourself into something dangerous.

Rachels idea is great...

I use to have a terrible time with the over the step lengthwise. I either put so much into going over I'd fly to far out, or I'd not put enough into it and barely get to the end of my board. I dreaded the things and Cathe uses them alot!

So, one week I took about 5 minutes before every workout just to practice them. I started on a 4" & now I do them in the routine on a 6".

"Repetion is the mother of skill."

(Anthony Robbins says that, although perhaps he isn't the first to say it, I like it!)
