Power Hour humbled me!!!

Hi Naughtoj!

Happens to me ALL the time -- especially at Sports Authority which has hideous lighting!

I think I look like the incredible hulk, especially with those thin string straps -- you know the kind I mean!

Sounds like our build is similar. I'm only 5 ft. but have never looked petite. Short and stocky like my parents with all my fat stored in the abs. What can you do about those pesky genetics -- get you every time! But, on the plus side, looking better in my late forties than in my teens, 20's and 30's. Pretty muscular.

Speaking of muscles, nothing accentuates and defines them more than a good tan. In my case, a self-tanner (I don't like to be out in the sun). Finally found a great one by Marcelle. They have 2 kinds -- the one that's good is in a copper-coloured package. Has a built-in bronzer so you're "coloured" right away. I gotta tell you, I've had more comments about my arms since I put this stuff on than I've ever received. And from the men in my office no less! And I look thinner and more toned (BONUS!)

Please keep up with the weights. Muscles last forever. Even if you don't work on them for awhile, once you start again they pop right up. And this from a woman who worked out almost exclusively with weights, then gave up working out altogether for a year(!!!), gained 30 lbs, joined Weight Watchers, lost 45 lbs (High Fibre, low fat) + exercise (walking), re-joined my old gym, and started weights again. (Let's see, must have been at least 16 months after quitting the gym) And I swear -- 1 month after re-joining I was sitting there doing dumbbell curls and another member remarked "Nice biceps!" Cardio gets rid of fat, but you can re-gain that lost fat faster then 1, 2, 3, but muscles -- they have memory. So don't give up!

Have a great weekend!

LOL yourself, Cyberfit!

Well, hmmm, let me think now . . . my last name COULD be Getty -- especially if you're one of the John Paul Getty clan. If so, CALL ME SISTER, HONEY!

Have a great weekend, Sugar (Twin)!

Patricia

Do you also notice your body looks better just AFTER you've worked out than BEFORE you worked out? I think your body perception changes. BEFORE you're thinking "Look at those big legs", AFTER "Whoa, those legs are STRONG! Look what they just did! Oh, I love being fit!!!" (That, and, "I'm so GLAD that's OVER!! Time for coffee")

I could also swear my abs flatten out -- for about 5 minutes, anyways.

I think anything is bound to make me feel better after putting on my sports bra (its more like a strait jacket!!:)
Hey, you know what they say...exercise is the best anti-deppressive. I think that our brains are telling us to feel better about our bodies after we exercise, simply because we feel very positive at this time (unless you are doing PH :)

Patricia...yes, our bodies sound very similar...maybe you are my twin??!! When I say "tree stump", I mean that in a more positive way than it sounds. I have learned to accept my stocky build and don't try to change it. I will not wake up some morning longer and leaner. Ok, maybe leaner...but NEVER longer. I will never look like a dancer, always look like a gymnast!! But, I have decided to maximize the positive. I lift heavy and work with what I got. Which is a whole lotta muscle. As undefined as it may be.......Hey, if you can't look like Jennifer Aniston, might as well look like Angela Bassett....
