Hi everyone,
While I sit here nursing, I figured I'd might as well start this week's post. I am glad to hear you are doing better Melanie. You'll really enjoy your new stroller. Alexis can be really fussy but loves movement. I hope you have luck at the yard sales. No yard sales here for a while, but I did find some great buys at thrift stores this week. Alexis seems happier these days, although still fussy around big crowds. Still no teethe, but she is drowling like crazy. Submitted her picture to the baby magazine photo contest to amuse myself.Oh yeah, I too am impressed with all you moms with multiple children like maggie and briee. My weight seems to flexuate by a few pounds, stomache still needs some work. Ok, enough of my babbling, here is my workout week:

Sunday-Powerbar training-(cia tape)
Monday-Step this way-kristen kagan
Tues--PS both upper body tape
Wed-PS-legs and abs
Thurs-Step,pump and jump-step and hi/lo premix
Friday-Bootcamp +tae bo 8 minute workout
Sat-Kick,punch and crunch

Hi there

If she's drooling, the teeth are coming. I prefer later teethers. It hurts when they bite and I would rather post pone the experience as long as possible:p. Bardric has not really bit me hard, just more of an experimental "testing" of his teeth. Then he leans back and grins at me. WOW you had no rest this week. I am tired just looking at your workouts:). I will post mine on Monday, because my rest day is Tuesday, so that is how they are organized.

Well, time to go lay out clothes and shoes for church tomorrow, so I am not rushing around like a mad woman in the early hours of the morning.

take care
Maggie

Wow Shopaholic. I'm in aw of your workout week. Way to go! Ya'll know about my week. I"m glad it's over. :) I'm beginning to get used to the constant slumber of infant motherhood. It's actually not as tiring as being pregnant. I prefer this fatigue. ;-)

Sun: KPC
Mon: off
Tue: off
Wed: off
Thurs: TS#4 (8"step) +KPC abs
Fri: C&W Timesaver step (8"step)
Sat: CTX Kickbox (2# handweights)--cardio only

For the record-- 8" step isn't really that amazing since I'm almost 5'8" tall. I guess I've been cheating all along with my 6" step. I can certainly feel the difference. I figure since I can't work as LONG as I'd like to, I better work HARDER. ;-)

Got my jogger stroller late yesterday evening. I had already worked out, so I just took it for a stroll with my boys. Justin really seemed to like it--as he was fussy when I put him in it, he was content when we were rolling. Jory liked doing wheelies in it. It rained all day today (as is forcast for next 3-4 days). Can't wait to use it. I'll be one fit & trim momma if this keeps Justin happy. :)

Fitnut... are you still with us?

Mon- 60 min. run + 40 min. walk on beach carrying Max (my back hurt!)
Tue- none
Wed- 40 min. run
Thu- none
Fri- 45 min. run
Sat- none

This is the beginning of my (hopefully) kickstart into my new running program. No weights this week since I am on vacation and have none with me. Max has been so good being dragged around here and there all week. I am so proud of my little guy, especially considering the two little teeth coming in. It's actually been great, he takes lots more naps now, perhaps due to the teething.

Sadly my vacation ends tomorrow... but at least I will be home and able to get back to fixing healthy meals. It is so easy to eat junk on vacation. And I can get back to exercising daily.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for your compliment on my workout week. I was going to take thurs. off since I had a dentist appointment in the am when I exercise but I felt I needed a little more cardio. Besides I will be traveling the next 2 weekends and will lose some workouts. The joy of a mixed marriage, Sat-Tues to long island for passover and then next sat to in laws (about 2 hours away) for easter. Sorry to hear that your trip is almost over. In regard to step height, being only 5 feet, I know I should be on 6 inch step but I am now so used to 8 inches that I can't go back. I am really trying though to decrease amount of step cause I feel my legs are looking a little to big for my petite frame. Sorry to hear that your trip is almost over emy, but it looks like you've been great at working out on vacation.

Emy, I feel for you & the end of your vacation. Bummer, on the positive side, it sounds like you really enjoyed yourself. I plan on beginning my running season this week. It'll be like we're beginning the season together. I'll think about you when I"m running. ;-) Hopefully I'll be able to take a jog tomorrow. Now, you're the one who's borrowing a neighbor's jogger? Do you have any distance goals for the summer? Do you enlist in any races? I like to do 5K's. I"m not very competitive, but it's fun to say I've done them. Now Justin can run along with me! I've seen Moms do this throughout the years. I always thought they were pretty crazy. :-d Now it's my turn. :D

Shopaholic, wow you are really working since you are only 5 feet tall! Boy, maybe I need to buy some more risers and go up to a 12" plateform? J/K I'm okay right where I'm at. Do all you ladies use an 8" plateform? Here I am feeling pretty good about myself...and you guys have been working this hard all along. ;-) Wasn't I just saying that I'm not competitive?

I don't think I am working any harder on an 8 inch step, its just what I am used to. I think any workout is what you put into it, no matter what your step height.

Hi there--

I'm rooting for Alexis to win that cute baby contest. You go girl!

I am 5'4" and I only use a 6" step. I'm afraid that any higher would not be good for the knee;-). I am totally impressed by you 8" gals.

Maria--you have a fantastic command of the English language. I am also impressed by that. Wow! But in Europe, you are much better about learning other languages than we are in the states. My mother spoke fluent French and German (as well as her native English), taught Latin and was learning Spanish, when she died fairly suddenly of skin cancer. Anyway, she would have been "quinta"-lingual. What a shame that I never bothered beyond 1st year Spanish and 2nd year Russian (and I remember very little of that:( )

Melanie, Emy and Briee--posted to you on the other thread, in case you are feeling neglected:p :7

take care

Melanie, I did borrow my neighbor's jogger the first time I went running, but I didn't enjoy it and neither did Max. Perhaps I will try it again, but first I want to get back into running shape. This past week I had my mom there to watch Max while I ran, but now that I'm home I don't know who will watch him... I will either have to start getting up early before my husband leaves for work, or go after he gets home.

Anyway, my running goal is to run a half-marathon or two this summer. If I can get back to the shape I was in pre-pregnancy by the summer, I will definitely do at least one race. My only wish is for an adult running partner (sorry Max:( !)

I hope your jogger is all you hoped for! Let me know what you think of it.

Half a marathon? Wow! YOu're amazing! Maybe someday I can aspire to that.) It's actually snowing here in MN today, doesn't look like we'll be jogging today.

Hi everybody,

finally getting a free minute from the kiddos...Boy, I really feel like I have my hands full with two, how does one deal with more...!!?

Thanks for your compliment Maggie, this here is really good practice ;)).

Great to hear you girls are running, I'm meaning to try that too this week, hopefully I'll get a chance later on today. The weather has been fantastic, and I'd love to do something outdoors for a change. I did some running years and years ago, but I'm basically a beginner, so any pointers from you experienced ones would be much appreciated. I'd love to hear for example how long runs you started out with, and how hard? I use a heart-rate monitor when I do cardio, which I've found really helpful in determining the intensity level.

I use an 8" step height. I'm so used to that, that I think I'd stumble all across a lower or higher one...;)) I also don't think it's so much the step height, but the intensity you put into a workout that makes the difference. I remember Cathe saying somewhere that you should use the stepheight you enjoy the most (after someone asked her about using a 6" stepheight after her kneesurgery, I believe it was?).

Also, I've managed to drop three incredibly stubborn pounds, but my abs don't seem to know anything about that. I really can't see much of a difference there. This loose skin, that's a few sizes too big there, covers up all abwork... I know you can't spotreduce, but still... I don't know if I should try to lose more weight or just accept my genes. At this point I'm down to 112 pounds (at 5 feet 4 inches), which is the lowest I've been since I was 15, thanks to Cathe! I never thought I could make it this far, but now I'm not sure what to do. Maybe I'm rushing it after the baby... It's sort of depressing to feel almost just as chubby as I did 40 pounds ago (the total of my weightloss project that started way before my pregnancy), though I have to say that without Cathe, things would be MUCH MUCH worse! Anyway, I'm rambling..., here's my workout log for last week:

Sun: MIC
Mon: Step Blast + PUB
Tue: Intense moves (G.Miller) + Great weighted workout (K.Voight)
Wed: off
Thu: Kick, punch and crunch
Fri: Imax + ME
Sat: Cardio & weights

Anyway, moment of peace is over, so have a nice week everyone ;),

Maria ;)

Maria,
Still can't believe your workouts, are you still doing these at the crack of dawn? You certainly should not lose any more weight, at 5 feet tall, I weigh around 108 and fit into a size 2-4 . You must be real thin. Have patience and be consistent with the ab work, give your abs time to rebuild those abs. I agree with you in terms of step height, If I changed the height, I'd trip, it is what you are used to. Melanie, if Briee doesn't claim those coupons I'll take some. I am putting formula into Alexis's oatmeal. I'll email me address.

Coupons are for anyone who wants them. I feel so bad throwing them away. I had some $10 off coupons that I just left by the formula last time I was at Target. I stepped back over there about 5 minutes later and someone has swiped them up. Made me feel all warm inside, as I could imagine the joy I'd have if I found them when Jory was a baby (we struggled financially with me in school). Hopefully someone used them. I'd prefer, of course, to give them to one of you ladies. :)

Maria, I agree with Shopaholic. I certainly wouldn't try to lose anymore weight. At this point I'd work on toning up the area (spot treatment, if possible). Perhaps you'd like to do 15 minutes of just ab/core work 4-5 days a week? I know, it sounds like torture...but I think you'd get the best results this way. I find that core work helps the most. I forget, are you nursing? If you are, your body tends to hold on to some fat...and this may simply go away upon weaning your peanut.

Gotta go!

Shopaholic, Melanie, thanks for your answers and support! You are right, and I needed to hear it from someone else too; I need to give it some time and stay patient with the abwork. And yes, I'm SOOOOO tired of trying to lose weight anyway, which doesn't even seem to do the trick; it's so good to hear from someone else focusing on ab/corework sounds like the way to go now. Melanie, you're so right, I have noticed that corework works the middle area really good. I think I will add some extra core work into my routine like you suggested. Thanks! Yes, I am nursing, so that could add to the abfat...;) But like you said, that'll change in time, so I'll try not to stress too much about that now. Anyway, I should enjoy the fact that I'm fitter and feel healthier than ever before in my life (thanks Cathe!!!), why do we always tend to focus on the negative? (There was a great thread about this / distorted body image on the open discussion, by the way. I truly identiefied myself with many of the commentors).

Yeah, I still work out early in the morning, that's pretty much the only possibility for me, and it actually works okay. I do go to bed ridiculously early ;))) though...;)).

Anyway, thanks again for your motivating answers, I think I'll go looking for some good coreworkouts for tomorrow;)

Hi everyone!!! Melanie...I sent you my address regarding the coupons and then read this and noticed Shop could use them too, so don't feel bad if you already sent them off to her....that's just fine!!!! That little girl needs to eat :7 :7 :7 !!!!

Shopaholic, noticed you are going to passover and then easter - you guys are covering all your bases (lots of smiles inserted!!!) Now seriously, did I read in a past post that one of you is Jewish and one is of Christian background? (is that correct?) I would LOVE to sit and talk!!! We are wanting to celebrate and have an understanding of the Jewish holidays and are wanting to celebrate passover with about 3 other families and we want information on the different foods and their meanings etc. The old testament has SOOO many different celebrations that we would love to become more educated about.

Anyway, I don't think I posted week before lasts workout and I finally brought my log upstairs. I'm just having a blast with the DVD's. I can always think of one more quick section to add on which I couldn't do with VHS, at least not very easily.

S - IMAX II and ABs from KPC
M&T - Kalahari days - lots of stairs!!!
W - SJP HI/LO and weights, TS#2 Hi/Lo repeat again and shoulders
TS#1 chest pushup series, TS#4 Abs and stretch, lat machine and
heavy shoulder work
T - Bootcamp minus squats and lunges, delt heavy work again and back
heavy and stretch
F - IMAX on an 8 inch step (mel I'm not comfortable with an 8" step, I think I'll stick to 6 as I'm kind of short), Added more heavy back and Chest work
Sat - SB/SJP step and Hilo circuit, TS#2 Hi/lo add on, heavy chest work, Abs from KPC and stretch
Sun - rest
M - BC with heavy shoulders
T - Imax and ABS
W - Rest
Th - L&G warmup, SJP hilo add on, KPC acvanced premix, KPC cool down and Abs KPC
F - Imax II (8" step - again I'm still not comfortable with this) and Heavy upperbody work
S - rest
Sun - BC really gave it my all - it's getting easier :7 :7

Sorry this got long - had to catch up. As I look at these workouts, I'm thinking "BOY I'm in need of a good rotation!!!"

Briee

Almost forgot to add MY BARBELL CAME TODAY yippee (okay I know this is barbell number #3, but a girl can't have too many barbells - it's sooooo cool - looks like the troybuilt but only cost 24.94 including shipping!!) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEE........(no it's not my birthday yet, but I'm almost there;-) ;-) )

Hi,
Melanie, send the majority of coupons to briee since she is only using formula, and if there is a bunch send one my way. Let me know. Briee, yes we are celebrating both holidays although Alexis is being raised jewish. I must confess I forgot the meaning of alot but try me with your questions. [email protected].

Hi Maria! This is how I got into running: I used to go to 6 am aerobics at my local gym every morning religiously. It was the most intense 75 min. step class with the best teacher! I loved it. I was engaged to my husband at the time and he challenged me to start running. So I took 3 of those 6 workouts per week and did them on the treadmill at the gym. I ran 7-8 miles every other day with aerobics class on the inbetween days. That was enough training for me that I reached the point that I wanted to run exclusively and I started doing 8 miles per day 6 days per week - this took me about 65 minutes per workout. I know it may sound pretty boring in retrospect, but I listened to my walkman and was all into making way upbeat, motivating running tapes. So that was all the motivation I needed. Fortunately, within a few months I found a running partener, quit the gym, and was really quite challenged by my workouts. My running partner was quite fast and she took me on my first 12+ miles runs. Eventually I did 2 marathons with the help of her and a local running club. I didn't get into weight lifting more than 5-8 pounds until I discovered Cathe several years later when I had moved out of state, no longer had a running partner, and was experiencing runner's boredom/burnout. Now I really want to get back into it! Running really whips you into cardiovascular shape like nothing else. I know this to be true because even being able to do Imax 1 & 2 with no problem, I am still winded during my easing back into running!

Shopaholic, My husband and I are having a Seder on Monday! We have Jewish friends coming to visit us and they will be here during part of Passover. We actually went to our first Seder with them before we moved from Atlanta. Just wanted to share that with you!

Emy,
How thoughtful of you to have a seder for your friends. We will be doing one seder at my parent'd house. As you may know, the youngest person at the seder reads what is called the 4 questions, Alexis better get ready to read by Monday night. Oh well, one more year of me reading them, I always was the youngest. My sister is 7 years older than I.
Maria, I think you are right, we all have extra high expectations for ourselves. When i talk to other moms that are so impressed by my workouts and say I look so thin but I still want to lose more weight. It is so hard to have realistic expectations of oneself when even the models in fitness and shape magazines are way underweight.

Emy and Shopaholic.....now I'm going to have to do some research on seder's and passover, this is soooo interesting. Marci are you participating in all this as well????? (just checking to see if Marci is out there lurking :) :) :) ).

Maria.....you are too skinny :p :p :p and I believe your own worst critic, but I know what you mean about that stubborn layer that seems to be there. Let me suggest trying to cut out grains, breads, crackers and high carb processed foods (don't cut out veggies). I have noticed that the bloated feeling will go away if you eliminate these items and you can loose that weight that seems to be a layer of fat, but really it's a "bloated" type of weight from the grains. Akirkland can tell you all about this on open forum if you ask.
