Postpartum check-in catch up

autumn

Cathlete
Hi ladies! Ok, you all are right... we can’t let the post-partum check-in become a thing of the past. I believe it was mentioned before, but maybe we need a post-partum check-in and a mommy check in. I visited Video Fitness Magnificent mom's, and like Melanie wrote, there are so many people.

My lil’ man is doing great. He had his 2-month check-up last week and is up to 10 #s 2.5oz and 22 ½ inches long. He is so much fun. He actually slept for 9 hours the other night. We were hoping this was the beginning of sleeping regularly, but the following night he was up until 3 AM.

I have been working out consistently, but my progress (weight loss) is slow. I have lost 32 of the 47 pounds I gained. The weight came off so quick with Sydney. I wish I were as lucky as Melanie. So far, I have completed a 3-week rotation of the CTX series; followed by a week of PUB, PLB, PH, and cardio from the Classics DVD; then a week of PS and cardio from Classics DVD; then S & H and cardio. Last week I used the S & H and it felt so good I am going to repeat this week.

Here is my log:
SUN: Rest
MON: S & H Chest & Back plus Step Max
TUES: Cardio Kicks
WEDS: S & H Legs & Shoulders plus the first 5 intervals of IMAX 1
THURS: Urban Rebounding
FRI: S & H Tris & Biceps
SAT: First 5 intervals of IMAX 1 (and lots of walking at the mall)

I hope y’all are doing well. Take care!

Autumn you're an inspiration. When do you find the time to workout?!?! I have two little boys and work full time. I try to workout for an hour after they go to bed but sometimes I fall asleep on the sofa and don't wake up until morning!!! I have lost the pregnancy weight but just need to tone things up again.
I hope I can get back into a routine soon.

Autumn, you are too kind to me. :) Yes, I totally feel fortunate. Will I be as lucky next time-- to lose weight so quickly?@?!!? The "MOMMY CHECK-IN" is an AWESOME idea!!! I think I will post this Sunday. Perhaps for mom's of babies 6mos and older?!?!?
I'm glad you are doing well. Like Charlene said, you are super disciplined & I know you'll reach your weight goals in no time. I don't think I've ever worked out as consistently as you do. I"m happy with 4-5 workout sessions/week. :)

I think we definitely need to keep this post-partum check-in going. It helps knowing that my workouts will be seen by others. Things are good here in Coastal Georgia. We are still dodging hurricanes and tropical storms. It has been a very active Hurricane season so far. Autumn, my 2 and a half month old has just started sleeping 7 hours pretty much every night. I am sooooooo thankful for that. It's amazing how much you miss sleep when you don't get alot of it. I teach school and just started back to work this week--that has been another adjustment. Before my pregnancy, I was up every morning working out while my husband and daughter were still sleeping. Until my little guy is sleeping consistently 8-9 hours a night, I have moved my workouts to the afternoon.

I am hoping that breastfeeding and exercsing will help me lose the last 15-20 pounds. I lost all of my baby weight with my daughter by the time she was 8 months, but I wasn't exercising then and I also lost alot of muscle. I HATE being flabby, so this time I'm keeping my workouts consistent!! I need this weekly check-in as a motivator.

Sun- off
Mon-Imax 2 (intervals 1-6)
Tues- PUB (I love this one, it just feels good)
Wed- Powermax (an oldie, but goodie)
Thur-off
Fri-CTX Power Circuit w/ Abs on Stability Ball
Sat-off
Sun-off

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Charlene, thank you for the kind words. First, you are doing great… the pregnancy weight is gone, you are resting/sleeping (IMO, one of the most important things adults neglect), and you are getting in workouts when you can.

I have not gone back to work, so I have more opportunities to slip in a workout. It can be challenging though… being home is definitely a full-time job. It is easier to workout when my DH is home… he travels a minimum of every other week for 2 nights/3days… but the trade off for the travel is he works from home 1-2 days/week. He is great about letting me slip downstairs to exercise. I workout when I can. I don’t have a specific time. I usually set a goal for the week of the workouts I want to complete and just fit them in when opportunity knocks. I try to be ready to workout after a feeding, so that I have a nice block of time. My daughter likes to “exercise” with me… she lifts her weights and jumps around the room… basically I keep her entertained. :) Occasionally, I even get in an AM workout before anyone is up… I love it when I can get this done... no distractions. There have been a few days I break up the workouts. For example, I had to break S & H Triceps and Biceps into tris, biceps, and abs this week… it took all day to get it done though. Charlene, you’ll get back into a routine… take all the time you need.

Melanie, I hope you are just as lucky next time. With my daughter, I was within 10#s of my pre-preg weight 6 weeks pp. That 10#s hung around until I stopped nursing, but it was gone within a month after I stopped. Maybe I’ll just lose it all this time and won’t have to wait until I stop nursing… perhaps that is the trade off for the slow loss. :) I can hope. Start the mommy check-in! That would be great!!!

Jessi, I hope you stay safe from all these hurricanes and tropical storms. I pray this hurricane season will settle down soon!!!! That is great Jack is sleeping!!! It IS amazing how you miss sleep… it is funny how good even 5 uninterrupted hours feel when you are sleep deprived. My husband and I joke about how we used to think we needed 8-9 to feel good…now 3,4, or 5 hours feel pretty darn good.

Those last 15-20 pounds will come off. You are doing all you can… the exercise, breastfeeding, and healthful eating will work their magic (I keep telling myself this too).

I’ll see you ladies next week!
